Happy Saturday Lovely people!! Wakey wakey and good morning to all of you!! Did you wake up HANGRY this morning and think to yourself, " lawd, I sure miss my grannie's cooking " and let out a big sigh?! If you answered yes, then you have found the joint to make it right in your world! We bring an old-school Southern, home-cooking game to the table; we do things like our grandmothers did and take the time to make it the way you want it. We are not scared to use REAL butter and HEAVY CREAM; the crew gets those pots and pans rattling early on Saturday morning and we do it for you. Our goal is for y`all to leave FULL, FED and HAPPY!! Our all-day breakfast and brunch service begins at 7:30 am. We open our doors with smiles on our faces and HOT coffee--Sweet Mamas Coffee is a blend created specifically for our breakfast and Brunch service. You will not find it anywhere else; we have retail bags for sale for take home, so go ahead and grab you a bag or two.

It`s new menu week at the restaurant and we do in fact have some new surprises for you for breakfast. ALSO, The Modern Mama is back on the menu for summer; this is mine and Lori`s go to, 100% VEGAN and delicious!!

The Special for Saturday will be The Farmer`s Market French Toast--Thick-Cut Texas Toast baptized in a traditional French Custard hinted with Vanilla and Cinnamon, Butter-Grilled and topped with assorted seasonal fresh fruit Lemon Chantilly Whip and served with REAL Vermont Organic Maple syrup on the side. Dusted with powdered sugar. Served with choice of bacon or sausage.

Happy Friday and a good morning to you Water Valley!! I don`t know about Y`all, but I am LOVING these cool mornings and porch sitting evenings!! What a blessing in the deep south in the month of June; this is when things really start ramping up with the temperatures and no end in sight. I am trying to embrace each cool moment of the day and hold it near and dear to my heart, you know, to get me through the rough spots this summer. You know what they say, " Out of the frying pan and into the fire." In the chef world this means the transition from Mississippi Spring to Mississippi Summer. HERE WE GO Summertime and day three of the NEW Sweet mamas Summer menu, it`s a lip wrapper y`all!

I have a treat for y`all today with the plate lunch!! Are you ready?! The plate lunch for Friday will be Catfish Lafitte, a signature dish at the restaurant that taught me how to be a chef and also taught me a lot about life. This was hands down one of the most popular dishes we served, I cannot even begin to count how many of these I prepped, fried and sauced; but it was a lot!! And a random sidenote: this dish was John Grishams favorite when he lived in Oxford, so you KNOW it`s good. It goes a little something like this, hand-breaded Pride of the Pond Catfish, baptized in a Cayenne cream with Shrimp ( USA wild-caught) Scallions and smoky ham. The Side choices will be Buttery Mashed Potatoes, Fresh Collard Greens, Southern-Style Green Beans, Camellia Black-Eyed Peas, Butter Beans and Country Fried Cabbage. All of Sweet Mamas plates are served with our Southern Buttermilk Cornbread Muffin and house-whipped Honey butter. Yes lawd!!

The dessert is Sweet Mamas Black Velvet Cake - Deep, Dark, Rich and Seductive Southern Layer Chocolate Cake with Summer Seedless Raspberry Jam and a frosting of Old-Fashioned Chocolate Buttercream.

Good morning and happy Thursday Water Valley!! What an absolutely beautiful day we had yesterday, just gorgeous!! It was, in fact the perfect day to roll with a NEW menu!! Today we want to shout-out one of our young people. Christina aka
'Little Red", because we are super proud of her. The young person has been working at Sweet Mamas since I opened; she started on June 13th as a busser and y`all, this was her first job and she was terrified. You would not know it to look at her today, because, well, she is a straight BOSS and running the whole show lol! What I want y`all to know is that Red has worked every weekend, arriving at 6:00 am, every holiday or break; as soon as she gets out of school, she comes to work. Well, last month she came in for her shift and tells us that she bought herself a nice little used truck, with HER MONEY!! BOOM!! It hits different when it is your money, but also, she has been saving this entire time and waiting for the right vehicle. We are so proud of her; it takes a lot of discipline for a teenager to not spend their paychecks as soon as they get them in hand. Thank you for your dedication, your hard work and your willingness to learn and always having a can do and positive attitude. The Sweet Mamas crew thanks you.

The Plate Lunch will be Chicken Divan Casserole. Y`all, this is one of those old-school throwback dishes I LOVE to make. Simple, yet elegant and nothing says Mamas love more than a creamy, cheese filled, lightly scented with sherry, kissed with curry and packed with poached chicken, sassy and saucy casserole!! Did I mention the CRISPY, buttery crackery, crumb topping?! This lovely dish is power loaded with fresh broccoli and mushrooms so we can feel good about eating it, right lol!!You want it, you need it, come and get it! The side choices will be FRESH collard greens, Black-Eyed Peas, Butter Beans, Southern-Style Green Beans and Country Fried Cabbage. All of Sweet Mamas plate lunches are served with our Southern Buttermilk Cornbread Muffin and house-whipped honey butter.

Good morning Vallians!! Y`all the sunrise was absolutely beautiful this morning, I hope some of you were up and able to witness it. Nothing starts the day off on the right foot like a beautiful sunrise. Hallelujah and amen!! ALSO, in the small blessings all around us, the temperature this morning was GLORIOUS!! It has been SO HOT these last two weeks; this past Monday I wondered if I had missed an entire month and we were somehow in the month of July because lawd have mercy, it was hot with that humidity, just ROUGH. I think we are going to have a fireball summer this year and I am getting my mind right; soon y`all will be seeing me in the kitchen with that wet towel on my head, so get ready for that and don't judge. It`s all about survival. Fifty-five years old and I cook in my kitchen all-day and every day, something I am very proud of, because it ain't easy. You gotta do the work and I am here for it!!

The special for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be, wait for it, Sweet Mamas NEW Summer Menu!! It`s a good one y`all and we are ready to rumble!! The crew is very excited, and we want you to be excited too. Here we go!!

The Plate lunch for today will be Sweet Mamas FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS!! Hand -breaded, seasoned right and golden fried; served with one of Sweet Mamas Signature Sauces. The Side choices are Fresh Collard Greens, Country Fried Cabbage with Bacon and Onions, Camellia Black-Eyed Peas, Butter Beans, Southern-Style Green Beans and Sweet Mamas Candied Yams. All of Sweet Mamas plates are served with our Southern Buttermilk Cornbread Muffin and House -Whipped Honey Butter.

The Side Porch Lemonade is Cucumber Melon, and the Country Kool-Aid is Strawberry Crush!! Both are AWESOME!!

Good morning beautiful people!! Wakey wakey, it`s time to rise and shine and get on down to Sweet Mamas for some delicious Southern breakfast!! We are proud to offer a whole lotta old-school, a little new school and all the schools in between with our food. Back in the day, di you spend the night with Grandma on Friday and wake up early on Saturdays to begin the cartoon marathon while Grandma cooked you a from scratch , homestyle breakfast?! If the answer is yes, then we are the place for you, because that is what we are going for at Sweet Mamas. Delicious Southern food that triggers memories of days past. And let`s be honest, if your grandma was like mine, she was not thrilled to get up before six am on a Saturday, but the grandmas did it anyway. They did it because they loved us and they wanted to make memories that would carry us through a lifetime. Shout-out to all the grandmas; we are all better folks because of you!

The Saturday Special will be Sweet Mamas Sunrise Turkey Burger-All-white meat Turkey Burger, baptized with our house made "Mojo" and grilled to order. Served DRIPPING in GOOEY Smoked Cheddar cheese on a butter bathed and grilled Sweet Potato Brioche Bun. Dressed and Dixiefied with a thick Schmear of Black Pepper and Sweet Tea Mayo, Ketchup, Breakfast Bacon Slices, Soft Scrambled eggs, Early Summer Tomato, and Dixie`s Pink Pickled Onions. Served with Choice of Sweet Mamas Hobo Breakfast Potatoes OR Dixie`s Buttery Thick Grits and Vinaigrette tossed greens.

It`s FRIDAY!! Whoop Whoop!! Everyone loves a Friday, including the Sweet Mamas crew, and that means we are rocking the house today!! We are going to bring some sunshine to this rainy spring day and wash those rainy-day blues away. Nothing says happiness like a Sweet Mamas plate lunch. Now then, let`s get to the business at hand, LUNCH!!

The special will be The Charleston Crab -- Sweet Mamas' salute to Charleston Low Country Cuisine. Our Classic Crab Cake Sandwich is made with Blue Crab, Low Country Mirepoix and a dusting of Old Bay. Pan-fried in butter and served on a Toasty Onion Roll slathered in Charred Lemon and Dill Tartar Sauce. Classic dressed with sliced tomato, lettuce shred and wispy red onion.

The Plate lunch for Friday will be Dixie`s Southern Fried Catfish, made with Mississippi`s Pride of the Pond Catfish. Hand breaded in-house with our Sassy, Southern Fish Fry!! All plates are served with raw onion slice, fresh lemon and our Charred Lemon Dill Tartar. The Veggie sides are Diner Fries, Dixie`s Sriracha Slaw, Country-Style Green Beans, Fresh Collard Greens, Butter Beans, Country Cabbage, and Black-Eyed Peas. All of Sweet Mamas plate lunches are served with a Sweet Mamas Southern Buttermilk Cornbread Muffin with house-whipped honey butter.

The Dessert will be Summer Lemon Velvet Layer Cake -- Layered Southern Lemon Velvet Cake with a filling of fresh Raspberry Jam (no seeds) and frosted with a Coconut Buttercream. It is FINE!!

Wash all of this deliciousness down with a glass of our Side Porch Strawberry Lemonade or a tall, ice-filled glass of our Country Kool-Aid!! This week's flavor is Blue Sunshine.

Happy Thursday Vallians!! Did y`all know I love tortoises and turtles?!?! I absolutely adore them and they are definitely moving around this year. We have a community member who has daily visits from these little guys; she feeds them strawberries and well, its adorable!! Over the years, Jaime and I have been fortunate enough the watch our yard buddies bury their eggs in what, they know is a safe space for them. It is one of the cooler things I have witnessed, they get in a trance and dig, slow and steady. We always keep our distance because we want them to return year after year and we are more than happy to share our yard. A couple of weeks ago I backed up out of my driveway and there was a little guy just chilling, I had not checked under my vehicle because I had not seen any yet this year. Y`all, I was so thankful I did not run over my little friend; I would have in fact been crushed. I got out of the car to see if I recognized my friend and I want you to know that it just started high stepping toward me. I immediately stopped, but it kept coming and it walked right up to my feet and just looked up at me. I have never had that happen before and considered it to be a good omen. I stepped aside and my friend continued on. All creatures big and small and all blessings big and small are always appreciated in my world. This early morning gift was both.

The Special will be The Backroads and Boots -Thick-cut, griddle-crusted, all-beef fried bologna, dripping in Classic, gooey American cheese on butter grilled Country White Bread. Diner dressed with a thick slather of mayo, Salt and Pepper dusted red tomato, house pickled red onion, crunchy iceberg and drizzled with Mustard. Served with Dirty Chips. Y`all already know what sets this special off?! A big glass of our side porch lemonade: Strawberry, or our Kool-Aid: Blue Sunshine!!

The Plate Lunch will be Sweet Mamas Sunday Chicken and Dressing, served with table gravy and scratch made Cranberry Sauce. The Side choices will be Country-Style Green Beans, Butter Beans, Miss Vetra`s Black-Eyed Peas, Country Fried Cabbage, Sweet Mamas Candied Yams and Fresh Collard Greens. All of Sweet Mamas plates are served with our Southern Buttermilk Cornbread Muffin and house-whipped Honey Butter.

Good morning, Water Valley!! We hope everyone had a great weekend spent with friends and family. The rain held off for the most part and it was downright hot, but it did not seem to hold folks back. We all need a little break every now and then to reset and relax a little; I saw a TON of boats going through town all weekend, a sure sign that a good time was had by all. Now, we all need a reset from the reset; the Monday holidays always throw the rhythm off a little and we are playing catch-up. A small price to pay for some food for the soul.

The Special for Wednesday is The Mississippi Mariner -Dixie`s Southern Fried Catfish Fillet, made with Mississippi`s Pride of the Pond Catfish. Hand-breaded and Golden-Fried Crispy with our Sassy, Southern Fish Fry. Served in a Crusty French Roll slathered with Sweet Mamas Charred Lemon Dill Tartar Sauce and Dressed with Lettuce Shred, Early Summer Tomatoes, Dill Pickle Chips and a splash of Tabasco. Served with Dirty Chips.

The Plate Lunch will be Dixie Dale`s Red Beans and Rice -Y`all these are the real deal: we use only Camellia Beans - anything else is blasphemy, in our humble opinion of course:-) We build on the Holy Trinity of Louisiana Vegetables, slow simmered until tender and creamy, heavily seasoned but not overly spicy. Loaded with Smoked Sausage and Hammy bits of goodness. Served with a generous portion of buttered rice. Amen. The Side choices will be Southern-Style Green Beans, Black-eyed Peas, Fried Country Cabbage with bacon and Onions, Butter Beans Sweet Mamas Candied Yams and Fresh Collard Greens. All of Sweet Mamas plate lunches are served with our Southern Buttermilk Cornbread Muffin and house-whipped Honey butter.

Our lemonade for the week is Strawberry, and our Country Kool-Aid is Berry Blue.

Whoop whoop, it`s Saturday, y'all know what that means?!?! You gotta GET UP to GET Down to Sweet Mamas for our all-day breakfast and brunch service!! We come in hard and fast on Saturdays to give you that Old-School Diner experience. We also pride ourselves on bringing that funky deliciousness that is Sweet Mamas scratch cooking. We do all the hard work so that you don't have to; the only thing we require from you is to come HUNGRY and leave FULL, FED and HAPPY!! We invite you to come and sit at our table.

We have TWO specials for your dining pleasure this Saturday morning. Number one is The Cadillac Elvis--Sweet bread, soaked overnight in a Southern Custard with Banana,and Chocolate Chips; not overly sweet. Dressed with Sweet Mamas FROM SCRATCH Chocolate Sauce, Hickory Bacon, Maple Sausage crumbles, and Peanut Butter Whip. Topped with a sunshine egg. This thing is in fact FUNKY DELICIOUS!!

Number TWO will be Gumbo and Grits--Creole Dark Roux, Hand-Stirred to Dark and Nutty, built on with Traditional Louisiana Trinity, Dixie`s Hand-Mixed Gumbo Spice, Andouille Sausage and a Whole Lotta of Funk. Studded with Blackened chicken and Tender Okra. Served over Dixie`s thick, buttery grits with Vinaigrette tossed Fall greens and white toast.
