The New York City celebration of Chef Patrick O’Connell’s new memoir, Main, Middle & Gay, brought together some of the most legendary figures in American culinary history.

The festivities were graciously hosted by longtime friends Daniel Boulud and Tim and Nina Zagat at Restaurant DANIEL, a fellow Relais & Châteaux property.

Patrick and Daniel first met in Washington, D.C., in 1980, beginning a friendship that has endured for more than four decades. The Zagats share a special place in The Inn’s history, having awarded The Inn at Little Washington the only perfect score for food ever given in their famed restaurant guide.

The evening’s most delightful moment came when chefs Thomas Keller and Daniel Boulud donned Dalmatian aprons and assumed the role of Patrick’s book delivery boys, posing with stacks of his new memoir.

Our heartfelt thanks to our generous hosts and everyone who joined in the celebration.

Autumn is falling delightfully behind in Little Washington this year.

With fall color forecast to continue well into November, we’ve been given a bit more time to savor the season.

Our iconic Liquid Autumn soup is simmering, local apple c***r is being mulled, and a few rooms still remain for one last autumn escape before the holiday season is upon us.

A little extra autumn is always welcome.

We are delighted to share that The Inn at Little Washington has earned three stars in The Sustainable Restaurant Association’s Food Made Good Standard — the highest rating possible — making The Inn one of only four restaurants in America to hold this distinction.

This recognition reflects a philosophy that has guided The Inn for nearly five decades. From Chef Patrick O’Connell’s earliest relationships with local farmers and growers to our work today in responsible sourcing, our farm and gardens, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship, we have long believed that true luxury is intentional — and that excellence and responsibility can strengthen one another.

The Food Made Good Standard evaluates sustainability across 10 areas of Sourcing, Society, and Environment. We are especially proud that The Inn achieved 100% in “Feed People Well,” recognizing our thoughtful approach to creating delicious, nourishing food while empowering guests to make informed choices.

This achievement belongs to our entire Inn family, and to the growers, producers, and partners whose dedication makes our work possible.

The final act may be the most enchanting of all.

Now taking the stage on our dessert menu: A Duet of Tartlets — Lemon Tart with Blackberry Frozen Yogurt alongside Dark Chocolate Caramel Tart with Pistachio Ice Cream.

A finale so good, it needed two stars.

Patrick O'Connell spent nearly five decades creating a world that sometimes feels more like a movie than real life.

Come experience it for yourself.

We are delighted to share that The Inn at Little Washington has once again been awarded Two MICHELIN Keys in 2026.

MICHELIN describes Two Keys as “an exceptional stay” — recognizing a hotel that is “unique in every way, where a
memorable experience is always a guarantee.”

To be recognized in this way for another year is a meaningful honor, and one we share with every member of our Inn family whose care, pride and attention to detail bring the experience to life each day.

We are deeply grateful to The MICHELIN Guide for this recognition, and to our guests who continue to make Little Washington part of their own stories.

As autumn prepares to make its colorful debut, we are reminded of one of our most beloved suites.

Perched atop the Main Inn, our bi-level Suite 12 is crowned by its own widow’s walk, offering sweeping 360-degree views across our tiny village and the mountains beyond. It is one of our favorite places to take in all the beauty of fall.

This has long been the most coveted time of year at The Inn, and overnight reservations are already becoming scarce. Your enthusiasm for autumn briefly proved too much for our online reservation system this week. It has since regained its composure and is back up and ready to take your reservation.

We hope autumn brings you our way, so we might experience a little of its magic together.

In a recent conversation with NBC4’s Eun Yang, Chef Patrick shares the story behind Main, Middle & Gay—from the story hidden within its title to the little Virginia town that became the center of his life’s work.
