Nia's been a regular for years. Every birthday, a Sticky Fingers cake. When we closed, she wanted eight of them, one for each of the next eight years, to freeze so she'd never run out.

I sold her our first cookbook instead. It didn't have the cakes she asked for.

Eight cakes. That’s what a regular tried to buy before we closed. One for every birthday, for the next eight years, so she’d never be without Sticky Fingers cake.

I told her freezing wouldn’t work. So I sold her our first cookbook instead.

Turned out that wasn’t enough. She wanted cakes that weren’t in that book, the ones that actually sold out every day for 24 years.

So I wrote them down. All of them.

Okay, deep breath. Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats is closing. Our last day is Sunday, August 2. (I’ve rewritten this sentence about ten times trying to make it hurt less. It doesn’t.)

Here’s where it all started: 2002, one of the first fully vegan bakeries in the entire country. People thought we were nuts. “Vegan cupcakes? That taste good?” Yeah. Yeah they do. We spent the next two decades proving it, one skeptical bite at a time.

Twenty four years, two Cupcake Wars trophies, and enough birthday cakes to fill a bakery case the size of Texas. This is where I wanted this whole goodbye to start, because it’s where the whole thing started too.

11 days left. Come get your favorite one more time. Bring a friend who’s never tried us, we’ll turn them too. Follow along over the coming weeks as we revisit some of our favorite moments, treats, and share more about the amazing new (vegan!) business taking over the space.
