Some announcements about our Bar Harbor store - we are planning on opening Sunday, May 4th!

Since we have gotten so many inquiries, we wanted to let folks know that we are no longer hiring in Portland as we are fully staffed for the season.

We were flattered when Caravan Coffee asked us to make a special ice cream using their coffee - currently the result of that. "Golden Camel Ice Cream" is being sold on their online website! https://www.caravan-coffee.com/

That same flavor will soon be available at our Japan stores:
Mount Desert Island Ice Cream Matsumoto and Mount Desert Island Ice Cream Azumino.

Caravan was founded in 1928 in Yokohama, at a time when coffee was not a known entity in Japan. Today you can find a wide variety of coffee blends and single source available all throughout Japan.

Not all coffee ice creams are created alike - this is ice cream made for the coffee aficionado.

Augustus Jackson revolutionized the way ice cream was made in 1837 with an eggless ice cream known as Philadelphia Style that is widely used today.

His original recipes don’t exist, but The Father of Ice Cream freely shared his method with other black business owners so that ice cream would be accessible to everyone.

In tribute, we bring you a classic ice cream base (milk, cream, sugar, salt, vanilla), swirled with our favorite classic soul food dessert, Peach Cobbler. As Black History month comes to a close, we want to take a moment and be grateful for the Black innovators that make our business possible, from Augustus Jackson’s Philadelphia style of ice cream we serve, to the ice cream disher invented by Alfred L. Cralle, the first Black man in Pittsburgh to receive his own patent, a precursor to the trigger scoops used today.

Available today at our Washington DC location (in-store only) by the scoop, or in a nostalgic 8oz to-go cup with a wooden spoon.

A portion of the sales from this flavor will go to The Marsha P. Johnson Institute.
