Craft Cocktails in Dupont Circle
Now: Travelogue For New Arrivals
(228)

Welcome to McClellan's Retreat, a place to retire, retreat, a place to saddle up to the bar and enjoy a lovingly made cocktail, a strong drink, a savory snack and a bit of conversation. If you squint just right, you will notice that you stand in the shadows of McClellan's statue directly up the block. Former members of his army commissioned the statue, mostly in gratitude for not pressing them into battle and not getting them shot. So raise your mug to the man and say, "Salute!"

𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦

The gathering place throughout the movie with all of the wacky characters was the inspiration for this tropical cocktail. A mix of some things that seem right, and some that don’t just like them. We’ve got Hamilton Black Pot Still Jamaican & Cruzan Black Strap Rums, Ancho Reyes Chile & Giffard Caribbean Pineapple Liqueurs, House Made Cinnamon Syrup, Lime Juice, and Angostura Cocoa Bitters all working together just like our players seemed to be.

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿

You can’t exactly have a Clue menu without a Revolver on it. Admittedly, this is an old classic that we like most of the time anyway. Old Forester Rye, Luxardo Espresso Liqueur, Orange Bitters served over a big cube. We hope you enjoy this Improved Cocktail as much as we enjoyed the movie.

𝗠𝗿𝘀. 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲

The nuclear physicist husband of Mrs. White inspired this drink to a degree. We really got our science on creating it. Cream Cheese densed St. George All Purpose Vodka steeped with Everything Bagel Seasoning provides the flavorful base. Then we put some Baguette Liqueur and House Made Oleo Saccharum into the tin. Finishing with just a bit of MSG for umami and to pull “everything” together. Shaken and served over a big cube, we’re certain you won’t be screaming, “I hate her sooooo much!” by the end of it.

𝐌𝐫. 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 - 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝

Don’t be nervous like Mr. Green. We know there are a lot of things you’re probably not familiar with in this cocktail. You all know that this is a safer space than that mansion they were all in, and we wouldn’t do anything to harm you. That being said, this is a spirit forward drink not for the meek. Laird’s Bonded Applejack plays with Lustau Vermut Blanc, Faccia Brutto Centerbe, and Kota Pandan Liqueur. We add just a few drops of Pandan Concentrate for color and to get all the tastes together.

𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸

The man that supposedly gathered them all together was taken out by a Brass Candlestick. We decided being completely clear would be the best decision as we don’t want any secrets being held over our heads, lest someone would want to retaliate in kind. Awayuki Strawberry Gin, House Fake Lime, and Club Soda served Tall. If you like RTDs or just straight up refreshingly honest cocktails, this is the one for you.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧

The Chef was killed in the kitchen, but not by The Kitchen cocktail we’ve assembled for you. This frozen number brings togeher Old Forester Bourbon, St. George Bruto Americano, Hamilton Pimento Dram, Lime, and House Made Coconut Cream & Pumpkin Citrus Puree to make a fun fall-ish cocktail that’s just as satisfying on a hot autumn day as Monkey Brains were to Mrs. Peacock.
