DC students, you have options.

At the Ward 8 Advanced Technical Center, students from DC public and public charter schools can stay enrolled at their home schools while using shared labs and training in high-skill career pathways.

State Superintendent Dr. Antoinette S. Mitchell and DC Secretary of Labor and Department of Employment Services Director Dr. Unique Morris-Hughes recently welcomed a Chilean delegation led by Minister Ximena Lincolao Gates for a closer look at the model.

Students can earn up to 26 tuition-free college credits, industry credentials, high school credits and paid internships. Initial 2026-27 enrollment includes 545 students from 29 high schools, including 165 at Ward 8.

Students and families can learn more at careertechdc.org/atc.

Which career pathway would you like more DC students to access? Tell us in the comments.
