I know it’s late, but our smoker can’t tell time, and she’s rolling!! Yep, 30 pounds of ground beef have been smothered with extra virgin olive oil, and now they’re resting warmly in a hickory smoke blanket for a long summer’s nap. In the morning I’ll pull the ground beef from its slumber, and Chef Cori is going to work her magic. Yep, a beautiful hamburger steak will be grilled in a touch of butter, smothered with a rosemary, garlic, onion and mushroom gravy, served on a mountain of creamy mashed potatoes, and accompanied by a serving of garden fresh veggies— my oh my!! Sounds amazing, yeah? It is, and it’s available tomorrow, June 9th. Wake the children, call the neighbors— it’s true, and it’s only happening at Foglight. See you tomorrow for dinner.

We’re humbled to be included with so many wonderful dining spots.

I always enjoyed lunchtime as a child. With a mother who kept us busy, a moment to sit and worry only about eating was a welcome break. One lunchtime stands out— not sure why.

Sitting at the kitchen counter was BORING. To curb my boredom, I saw no means more fit than to be accompanied by my freshly-procured, and quite stylish (if I may say) Snoopy AM radio. White, crisp, clean… what could go wrong?

Also on the counter was my turkey sandwich with butter— yep, butter, and a piping hot bowl of Spaghetti-O’s. Against the advice of my mother, I kept all aforementioned items in dangerous proximity, one thing led to another, and my white, crisp, clean Snoopy radio was suddenly violated by a spoonful of my now lukewarm Spaghetti-O’s. Oh well. Lesson learned.

Tomorrow at Foglight, from noon until 2pm, you can create your own everlasting lunchtime memories. We have it all— delicious food, terrific service, and an amazing view of the river. Oh, sorry. We don’t have Spaghetti-o’s😉 Get lost. Find us.

"Mmmmm, ba-BUMP, mmmmm, ba-BUMP, mmmmm, ba-BUMP" said the tires over the old bridge. You've driven it enough now that you don't even notice it. The headlights curved through the trees as the wind blew softly through the branches overhead, and nobody said much. After the Monday they’d had, silence felt pretty doggone good, and a weeknight dinner treat is just what the doctor ordered. The rain had already started. Not a hard rain, mind you. Just enough to give the river goosebumps.

Then they saw it. The warm, golden light glowed through the windows like a lantern in the woods, high above the Caney Fork. Smoke curled from the fire pit, and it's the kind of place that makes you slow down before you even step out of the car.

As they walked down the parking lot, gravel crunched under their feet, and somewhere nearby, somebody laughed. An owl asked "Whooo?" in the background, and as the well-worn front door squeaked open and slammed shut, the fire crackled and popped against the damp evening air.

Inside, the whole place had its own rhythm. Steaks hissed on the grill. Butter sizzled across a hot sauté pan. Plates clinked softly against tabletops while conversations drifted through the room like a ribbon of smoke from the pit out front.

Nobody was in a hurry. Not the couple by the windows watching rain skitter across the river. Not the friends leaning back in their chairs long after supper was over. For a little while, the realities of the world outside cozily disappeared beneath the sounds of Foglight supper being prepared, served, and enjoyed.

And somewhere between the rain on the river, the laughter in the dining room, and the crackling fire outside, they remembered what evenings are supposed to sound like. That’s Foglight’s soundtrack.

Slow down for a bit, come hear it for yourself during the week at Foglight Foodhouse, and remember, folks-- you've got to get lost to find us.
