Hello all, Stephanie from Steph's Small Sweets and Treats here, and asking for help like this isn't easy for me.
For the past 18 years, my family and I have called the same townhouse home. It has been the place where we've built memories, raised our family, celebrated milestones, weathered difficult times, and simply lived our everyday lives.
Now, after nearly two decades, circumstances have changed, and my landlord and I have agreed that it is time for my family to move.
While I knew this chapter wouldn't last forever, I wasn't financially prepared for everything involved in starting over somewhere new at once.
Why I'm Asking for Help
Moving after 18 years means much more than packing a few boxes. There are moving and transportation expenses, packing supplies, deposits, first month's rent, utility setup costs, and all of the other expenses that come with establishing a new home.
I am working and doing everything I can to make this transition happen, but covering all of these costs at the same time has become more than I can manage on my own.
That's why I've created a GoFundMe.
The funds raised will help with expenses such as:
- Moving truck and transportation costs
- Packing and moving supplies
- Security deposit and first month's rent
- Utility deposits and setup expenses
- Storage, if needed during the transition
- Other necessary expenses associated with getting our household safely moved and settled
Every contribution helps move us a little closer to our new beginning.
A Little About Me
I know you guys recognize me from local markets and community events. I'm the woman behind Steph's Small Sweets & Treats, my small Maryland cottage bakery.
I love being able to bake something that puts a smile on someone's face, whether it's a cookie, a cake, or one of my other homemade treats. Being part of local events and meeting people throughout the community has meant a great deal to me.
Right now, I'm the one who could use a little help from the community.
I'm not asking anyone to solve everything for me. I'm simply asking for a hand getting from one chapter of my life to the next.
Even a Small Donation Makes a Difference
Please don't feel that a contribution has to be large to matter.
$5 or $10 can help purchase boxes, tape, and packing supplies.
$25 can help with gas and transportation.
$50 can help toward moving, storage, or utility expenses.
$100 or more can make a significant difference toward the larger costs of securing and moving into a new home.
It all adds up.
And if you're simply not in a position to donate, sharing this fundraiser is also an incredible way to help. One share could put my story in front of someone I would never otherwise be able to reach.
Looking Forward
Leaving the place we've called home for 18 years is emotional. There are a lot of memories within those walls, and packing up nearly two decades of life is something I never imagined doing under these circumstances.
But I am trying to look at this not simply as losing a home, but as the beginning of a new chapter.
My goal is to get my family moved safely, find our next home, and rebuild from there—one step at a time.
If you're able to contribute, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you're able to share this fundraiser, thank you for helping my story travel a little farther.
And if all you can offer is a kind thought or word of encouragement, I appreciate that too.
After 18 years in one place, it's time to turn the page. I just need a little help getting to the next chapter.
With gratitude,
Stephanie
