Update: Wakefield Ruritan Shad Planking Website

Many of our loyal Shad Plankers may be wondering about the 2018 Wakefield Ruritan Club Shad Planking. Like all good things, they change over time. Regrettably, the Shad Planking has changed to the point it is no longer viable as a fundraiser for our Ruritan Club. For over 60 years, Shad Planking has been the major source of revenue to support our contributions to youth athletics, 4-H, local Fire & Rescue, and other worthwhile community efforts. These efforts have always been and will continue to be our focus as Ruritans.

Therefore, the Club will sponsor a new event called the 2018 B.A.S.H - BBQ and Shad Homecoming, to be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Wakefield Sportsman's Club. It will feature club-cooked barbeque (and yes, a small taste of shad), music, beer & wine, a corn-hole tournament, and a host of other activities all included in the cost of a ticket. So come out and join us!

The speaker lineup for the Shad, Grapes and Grains Festival will include the following: Attorney General Candidate (John Adams), Lieutenant Governor Candidates (Glenn Davis, Bryce Reeves, Jill Vogel and Gene Rossi) and Governor Candidates (Frank Wagner and Corey Stewart).

With the speaker lineup, 4 beer trucks and 3 wineries, it is certain to be a great time! Buy your tickets now online at www.shadplanking.com. Tickets can also be purchase tomorrow at the Shad Planking Ticket Office.

The Shad, Grapes & Grains Festival creates the ultimate marriage between a political rally and a wine and whiskey festival.

The Vendor List and Site Layout have been finalized. For the beer lovers, there will be a total of 4 beer trucks serving up both craft and domestic beers! We are looking forward to a great Shad, Grapes and Grains Festival tomorrow!

Tickets can still be purchased online at www.shadplanking.com and will also be available the day of the event at the Ticket Office.

Campaigns confirmed to have booths at the Shad, Grapes and Grains Festival include: Corey Stewart, Frank Wagner for Governor, Ed Gillespie, Glenn R. Davis, Jill Vogel, John Adams, Rex Alphin for Delegate and John Wandling for Delegate.
