Step back into a piece of local history with our Coyote Room 🤎

Inspired by the early days of the railroad, this space tells the story of Coyote — a small but significant stop along the Union Pacific line in the late 1800s. From railroad workers living in dugouts to famous figures like Buffalo Bill and General Custer passing through, this area is rich with history.

Located inside the Prairie Rose Inn, this room offers a unique stay where the past meets comfort. Whether you’re here to relax or explore, you’ll love the character and story behind your stay.

Our Banner Room lets you step back into a little piece of local history during your stay at The Prairie Rose Inn.

The nearby community of Banner was once a small but busy town in the late 1800s. It had a school, creamery, blacksmith shop, and several other businesses. Supplies were hauled in by horse and wagon from WaKeeney, and the town built its first church in 1879.

As roads improved and times changed, the small town slowly faded away. By 1971 the final church service was held, and Banner eventually became one of Kansas’ quiet ghost towns.

Today, pieces of that history live on in our Banner Room, where photographs and stories from the Banner community offer guests a glimpse into the past.

When you stay here, you’re not just booking a room — you’re experiencing a small part of local history.

Come experience the charm, stories, and hospitality of The Prairie Rose Inn.
