Vista Farm Cafe

Vista Farm Cafe A Community Cafe food booth at the Farmer's Market, using produce in season, with a pay as you go format. Everyone gets fed, no matter what they can afford

Vista Farmers Market Community Cafe is a completely original idea created by Machado Farms. It is a booth at the Vista farmers market that will cook and serve an array of fresh fruits and vegetables from Machado Farms and other local farmers. Every morning we will walk through the farmers market, collecting fresh food from participating farmers. All ingredients will be fresh, in season, and as cle

an as possible. All food will be cooked to order and all utensils and bowls will be 100% compostable. Any ingredients that are left over at the end of the day will be composted back into our farm. We will also be using a "pay as you go" concept, in which customers will pay what they can afford. A price will be suggested, but everyone will get fed regardless of payment. Restaurants have been very successful with the "pay as you go" concept in the past, but Machado Farms is the first to implement this method at a farmers market. We are hoping to make fresh, healthy meals attainable for people everywhere, regardless of how much money they have. In short, we are attempting to feed the world.

Friends, family, customers,

Tomorrow will be our last day at the Vista farmers market. We appreciate all the love and support over the past six years, both at the Vista Farm Cafe and the Machado Farms booth.

A special thank you to everyone who supported our kickstarter campaign and helped us get off the ground and to the vendors who donated to the cafe week after week.

We are very proud that we were able to feed people a healthy meal, at a price that they could afford, and we are thankful to all of you who supported us and made that possible. In addition to providing healthy meals with a pay-what-you-want format, we were able to work with Vista high school to feed kids who would have otherwise gone hungry on the weekends and during the summer, as well as participate in the Holiday Baskets charity in San Diego county to provide free meals during the holiday season.

And of course, we are so proud and thankful for our Vista Farm Cafe crew. For several this was their first job and we applaud the hard work and talent that they brought to the cafe.

The Vista Farm Cafe was a team effort- a group of people who came together and decided that everyone deserves a healthy meal, regardless of what they can afford. We hope the spirit of the cafe lives on because healthy food is a right, not a privilege.

Please come see us for a bacon and egg sandwich before we hit the road tomorrow 🍳🥓🚚

We were honored to be apart of the Holiday Baskets Community Resource Center charitable event today. Holiday Baskets provides a dignified and free shopping experience for families who might otherwise receive nothing for the holidays. Our crew was thrilled to crank out 125 healthy meals for these amazing people.

We were overwhelmed with an outpouring of donations of both time and money. A huge thank you to the entire crew who showed up this morning to cook 125 meals in an hour and a half. We also want to recognize Ben's Subtropicals, Frazier Farms, the Vista farmers market, Smith Farms, Ebenhauzer Farm, and Liz family farm, without whom today would not have been possible.

Hello,
This is a reminder that we at the Vista Farm Cafe use a pay-what-you-want format. This means that anyone in need can get a free meal from us on Saturdays from 8:00-1:00 PM at the Vista farmers market, which is located in the parking lot of the Vista county court house.

We use produce/ingredients from our farm and the other vendors at the market, which allows us to serve healthy, seasonal meals- no canned food here.

Additionally, if you would like to give to those in need you are welcome to support us by buying a meal or even paying more, which goes towards those who cannot afford to pay.

We do this every Saturday morning throughout the year, not just during the holidays.

Please share and pass along this message to get the word out.

The Vista Farm Cafe is now serving homemade ice cream. This Saturday's flavor is pumpkin! Perfect for a hot autumn day.
