We had a truly unforgettable guest at the restaurant recently — the real Captain Richard Phillips stopped in to dine with us!

For those who may not know, Captain Phillips is an American hero whose incredible bravery during the 2009 Maersk Alabama hijacking inspired the movie Captain Phillips, where Tom Hanks portrayed him. His courage under pressure and selflessness in protecting his crew is something the world won’t forget.

It was such an honor to serve him, and we’re proud to say he loved our chicken enchiladas — and went through three bowls of salsa while he was here! 🌶️

Moments like this remind us how special it is to meet people whose stories have made such an impact. We’re grateful he chose to spend some time with us, and we’ll definitely be telling this story for years to come.

Thank you, Captain Phillips, for your bravery — and for dining with us!

Family truly showed up this weekend ❤️

While Yubi and Larry are enjoying a well-deserved vacation in London, my siblings stepped in to keep the restaurant running tonight. It meant a lot to work side by side with family, just like the old days — laughing, helping each other, and making sure every guest felt taken care of.

We’re so grateful for the amazing customers who came out and supported us this weekend. Your kindness, patience, and smiles made it all worth it.

Sometimes love shows up in the most unexpected places… like inside a tomato. 🍅❤️

While prepping in the kitchen today at Gringos, we sliced into this tomato and found a perfect little heart waiting for us. It felt like the kitchen was reminding us of something simple but important.

At Gringos, loving what we do means more than just making food. It’s the early mornings, the laughter in the kitchen, the music playing while we prep, the care we put into every plate, and the pride we feel when we serve our community. It’s about cooking with heart, working as a team, and making sure every guest feels that same love when they sit down to eat.

So today’s little heart-shaped tomato felt pretty fitting. ❤️
