Hello to all Baja Friends and Family. As I am sure many of you are already aware, we have come to the end of an era. And, to the beginning of a new one.... It is with mixed emotions that I write this post. After 25 years and 11 months of serving up the Best tacos, wings, live local and national punk, skate and stoner rock, occasional reggae, open mic nights and celebrations of life. Your favorite VB surf/taco bar is changing hands. My brother and I have decided to trade in being bartender/barback/waiter/cook/busboy/dishwashers to become landlords. For me personally, this is very bittersweet... I love the Baja, what we have built and especially the different crews that we have worked with throughout this last quarter century. Many have come and gone over the years, some got married and had kids, some have moved on to different lives and some have, sadly passed away. Together we have pumped out a Sh%t Load of Tacos and a few drinks as well. And so,to all of you, I want to say THANK YOU! I had a BLAST!! Many of you have become like Family! I will really miss that... And a very humble and grateful THANK YOU to all of the people who have supported and showed love to us over the years. Without you taco eatin, beer drinkin, shot takin fools this would not have been possible. We appreciate every one of you! Well maybe not every single one of you.... but most of you, for sure!! haha! Last but certainly not least, THANKS to all the fantastic musicians and Bands that played here over the years. Ya'lls lack of greed and genuine desire just to play at the Baja allowed me to avoid charging a cover at a single local show for 25 years. Even as these bands got bigger and bigger they always looked out for us. Super cool, so once again thanks guys(and a few girls). But, all good things must come to an end, as they say. So, here we are, wrapping up this chapter of the Baja Cantina story. But, take heart, fear not! The new owners are very capable, very motivated, alot younger and better lookin(I know, that doesn't seem possible, ha!) They Love the Baja, and have no plans of changing anything! Same Great Food, same Great Vibe, same Great Staff!!! So please give them(Jordan and Aaron) a chance and let's help them keep this thing goin for another 25!! Once again, with humility and gratitude, Dorsey and I thank you all.
p.s. If anyone has any old school photos of Baja please feel free to post. I will be posting photos over the next week or 2, as well.
