Please join me for an unforgettable evening inspired by the warmth, soul and culinary richness of Southern Italy on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 5:00 pm where Chef Roberto Donna, together with Roberto D’Onofrio of Impero Wine Distributors, will host an intimate wine dinner featuring the expressive wines of Masca del Tacco, a celebrated estate from Puglia known for reviving indigenous varietals and capturing the essence of the Salento region in every bottle.
Throughout the evening, each course will be thoughtfully intertwined with its perfect wine pairing, creating a seamless dialogue between the kitchen and the vineyard.
We begin with the lively Spumante Rosato “Ro’sì” 2023, whose delicate effervescence and bright red berry notes elevate Salame di Polipo con I Pizzi Leccesi, thin slices of octopus salami finished with Pugliese olive oil and fresh lemon, accompanied by rustic tomato and black olive bread. The wine’s freshness mirrors the light, coastal flavors of the dish.
The journey continues with Susumaniello Rosé 2024, a vibrant and elegant expression of one of Puglia’s most treasured grapes, paired with Tiella al Forno di Riso, Patate, Pomodoro e Cozze. This traditional baked combination of rice, potatoes, mussels and tomatoes is beautifully balanced by the rosé’s crisp acidity and subtle fruit, enhancing both land and sea.
As the evening deepens, Susumaniello DOP 2024 reveals its richer, more structured character alongside Maritati di Semola Cappelli con Ragù alla Macellaia e Canestrato Pugliese. The handmade semolina pastas and slow-simmered butcher’s ragù find harmony with the wine’s depth, earthy tones and refined tannins.
The experience continues with the elegant Lu’Li Limited Edition 2021, paired with Costolette di Agnello Impanate al Pecorino con Spinaci. The pecorino-crusted lamb chops, served with sautéed spinach and a velvety pecorino sauce, are elevated by the wine’s complexity and lingering finish.
To conclude, Lu Li Appassimento IGP 2023 accompanies I Formaggi, a selection of aged Italian cheeses. With its concentrated fruit and soft, enveloping texture, this wine offers a warm and indulgent finale, perfectly complementing the richness of the cheeses.
