I have the BEST sourdough starter!! This levain began with only 52 grams of starter. Overnight it grew into this goey, bubbly, very alive starter that yielded 2 large loaves of Challah bread. Challah dough is enriched with dairy, eggs, and sugar and has a more dense texture than typically found in sourdough bread. It is one of my favorite loaves to bake, both for the beautiful braids and the richness of the dough. And, it's a wonderful bread that makes extraordinary French toast!
