Departure of Mrs. Katsuko Inatome
Dear Inatome Customers and friends,
I have sad news to announce today.
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear mother and Inatome co-founder, Mrs. Katsuko Inatome, who died of heart failure on the morning of December 17th, 2025.
In accordance with her wishes, no memorial service will be held. Her remains will be returned to Japan for burial in the Inatome family grave, where she will be laid to rest alongside our father, who passed away on December 21, 2021.
She inspired us with dedication to our family and business, which she ran the restaurant until the fire in 2010. She built Inatome’s foundation and her tradition runs through our establishment, and so I inherited her legacy. (Her staff continue to operate the restaurant as of today.)
For the past nine years, she has lived with my sister in Manhattan, where she has enjoyed retirement by taking exercise classes, going to shows and theaters, reading many books, and watching YouTube. Recently, she also began exploring and traveling with my sister.
It was her wish that Inatome would continue contributing to the community and inspire us. Thank you for your help in sustaining our tradition.
