⭐ FEATURE FRIDAY: Bridgeview Estates ⭐
This Feature Friday is a little more personal for me. ❤️
I had the pleasure of working at Bridgeview Estates for more than two years, where one of my favorite parts of my job was teaching crafts each week to a wonderful group of women who came to hold a very special place in my heart.
But I have to admit something: I was incredibly nervous when I first started working there.
When I was growing up, I had a very difficult experience seeing my grandmother in a nursing home. That experience stayed with me for years and shaped the way I thought about assisted living, nursing homes, aging and what it might mean someday to need help caring for yourself.
Then I came to Bridgeview.
And Bridgeview changed my mind. ❤️
I watched staff members go out of their way to give residents the fullest life possible. I saw people come in on their days off to make birthdays and holidays special. I watched residents participate in activities together week after week—and somewhere along the way, what I saw wasn't simply a group of people living in the same building.
I saw a family.
I never thought I would say this, but the idea of someday needing assisted living doesn't frighten me the way it once did.
Of course, I hope David and I remain healthy, independent and happily getting into mischief together for many, many years. 😊 But as I've thought more about growing older lately—and about how we care for people when they can no longer do everything for themselves—I keep coming back to my time at Bridgeview.
Knowing places like this exist brings me a great deal of comfort.
I know Bridgeview isn't the only wonderful care facility in our area, and there are many people doing beautiful work caring for others. But Bridgeview will always be especially near and dear to my heart because I was fortunate enough to experience it firsthand.
So for this Feature Friday, I simply want to say thank you.
Thank you to Donna Reign for giving me an opportunity that ended up changing my perspective on something much bigger than a job.
And thank you to my Bridgeview Crafter ladies. You each found your own little place in my heart, and I miss you all. ❤️
