🧁 Artist Spotlight: Samantha Nelson of Sam's Sweets 🧁

Meet Samantha Nelson, the baker behind Sam's Sweets! With a passion for creating delicious treats and continually improving her craft, Samantha is always experimenting with new flavors and techniques to bring something special to her customers.

Since her last event with us, Sam has been busy expanding her menu with new treats, including fun creations like dirt cups. She's also spent time perfecting her chocolate molding skills, learning how to work with delicate chocolate pieces and creating even more beautiful sweets.

One of Samantha's favorite recent customer experiences came from a special order of graduation cake pops designed to look like graduation caps. While they required plenty of patience and attention to detail, seeing the customer's excitement made it all worthwhile. The graduate loved them so much that not a single cake pop was left by the end of the celebration!

If you're visiting her table, be sure to ask about her personal favorite: Cookie Butter Cake Pops. Inspired by the rich, buttery flavor of Biscoff cookies, Samantha says they're one of the most underrated treats she makes and her favorite flavor she's ever created.

One thing Samantha wishes more people understood about cake pops is just how much patience they require. They may look simple, but every batch is a learning experience. With practice, persistence, and a little creativity, those skills grow over time—just like any great craft.

✨ Stop by Sam's Sweets and discover a delicious treat handcrafted with care!

✨Artist Spotlight: Wyrd Sisters ✨

Meet the creative trio behind Wyrd Sisters—three sisters who share a love of whimsy, creativity, and all things a little magical.
Inspired by nature, nostalgia, spirituality, and the quirky things in life that spark joy, Wyrd Sisters brings together three unique artistic styles:
🌿 Kaylah loves upcycling, painting, and creating collages. 🎨 Amanda enjoys designing clothing, greeting cards, and make-and-take crafts. 🧚 Abbi specializes in clay work and ceramics.
One thing that surprised them most about starting their creative venture was discovering just how many little details go into planning, creating, and setting up. Thankfully, their biggest supporter—their mom—helps keep everything organized and running smoothly.
One of the most unique things you'll find at their table is the opportunity to create something of your own. From mini bouquets and wish jars to handmade bookmarks, they offer materials and guidance to help visitors craft small treasures filled with meaning. They also create beautiful intention stones, each paired with handwritten insights inspired by oracle cards selected specifically for that individual stone.
Their current best-selling items are their greeting cards, but if you stop by their display, don't miss a few personal favorites: 🪴 Kaylah's hand-painted pots 👶 Amanda's nerdy onesies 🧚‍♀️ Abbi's clay fairy doors
Most importantly, Wyrd Sisters wants people to know that every item is created with care. As three busy moms balancing full-time jobs, the time and peaceful intention they pour into their work comes from a genuine love of creating and sharing that joy with others.
✨ Handmade with heart. ✨ Inspired by wonder. ✨ Created by sisters.
Thank you, Wyrd Sisters, for bringing your creativity and magic to Saturday Social! 💜🌿🧚‍♀️✨

It just dawned on me what a wonderful Father's Day gift Robert's work could be for the music lover in your life. 🎹❤️

I've had the opportunity to see two of his pieces in person, and they are truly spectacular. One piece, created from piano keys arranged in the shape of a wave, has stayed with me for months. Most artwork, no matter how beautiful, fades from memory over time—but that piece didn't. I can still picture it clearly.

There's something incredibly meaningful about taking an instrument filled with music and giving it a new life as art. For the right dad, this could be a gift he'll treasure for years to come.

Come out this Saturday, meet Robert, and support all of our wonderful vendors. We can't wait to see you! 🤗

🎹 Artist Spotlight: Robert Elstrom of Artistic Notes 🎹
Meet Robert, the creative mind behind Artistic Notes—a Valley City artist transforming old pianos into breathtaking works of art.
Born and raised right here in Valley City, Robert spent many years working construction and carpentry, traveling across the United States. After stepping away from that work due to disability, he found his way back to something he had loved long ago… art.
His journey began with a single piano.
While helping a longtime friend (a keyboard player) part with an old piano, Robert had an idea—to turn its keys into something meaningful she could still enjoy. That first piece, a flowing wave design, turned out so beautifully that it sparked something new.
Since then, Robert has been carefully disassembling pianos—an intricate and labor-intensive process—to give each piece a second life. He thoughtfully arranges all 88 keys, often in order, shaping them into stunning designs like wings, waves, clocks, and even a phoenix created for his son.
Each piece begins with an idea, laid out by hand, key by key, before being transferred onto a custom-built backing. No two creations are ever the same.
✨ What makes his work truly special?
Every piece carries the history of the piano it came from—music transformed into something you can see and touch.
Robert has already created several unique works, including clocks, wall hangings, and sculptural designs. His personal favorite? A beautifully crafted clock he’ll be bringing to the event.
You may have even seen his work displayed at Bridgeview Estates, where it has already brought joy and admiration to residents.
Now, for the very first time, Robert is stepping into the local small business scene—and we are so honored to have him.
🎉 What to expect at the Saturday Social:
Robert will be bringing a variety of one-of-a-kind pieces, including his signature wing and wave designs made from real piano keys.
This will be his very first public showing, and we couldn’t be more excited to support him as he shares his work with the community.
💬 “I am enjoying my return to art.”
Come meet Robert, hear his story, and experience the beauty of Artistic Notes in person. You won’t want to miss this one.

✨ Artist Spotlight – Dakota Brushworks ✨

Dakota Brushworks was born from a love of creating across a variety of mediums and surfaces. From clay pots and wood slices to raw canvas, each piece offers a new opportunity to explore creativity. While art has always been part of my life, I started Dakota Brushworks a few years ago with a more focused and dedicated approach.

Right now, my favorite pieces to create are detailed drawings on natural wood slices. I enjoy working with the grain of the wood and allowing its texture to complement the artwork. There's something special about blending nature's design with my own.

One thing that surprised me about starting a business is that success rarely happens overnight. It takes many shows, many sales, and plenty of mistakes along the way. For me, quality has always been what keeps people coming back.

If you're visiting my table, be sure to take a look at my larger wood slice drawings, especially those inspired by the outdoors. Walleye, northern pike, trout, and eagle designs are among my favorite pieces and showcase the detailed style I enjoy creating most.

My work is inspired by clean, flowing lines and the peaceful feeling that comes from creating. Time spent at my easel is my Zen time.

One of my most popular items continues to be my hand-painted bee and dragonfly terra cotta pots, featuring detailed, eclectic designs that bring a touch of art to any space.

Something many people don't know is that before the paintbrush became my primary artistic tool, photography was my creative outlet. I also attended VCSC—before it became VCSU—as an art student, where my artistic journey continued to grow.

This month, I'm especially excited to share my 4x6 cradle board drawings. These fun, detailed pieces offer a unique way to bring original artwork home at an affordable price.

✨ Artist Spotlight: Prairie Girlz Creations ✨

Prairie Girlz Creations began as a special project between a mother and daughter. After her mother received a disability diagnosis that made many traditional jobs difficult, they began creating together as a way to earn income and spend meaningful time with one another. What started as a small business quickly became something they shared and cherished together.

Some of her favorite creations include earrings that honor her African and Native American heritage, as well as the bows they made for children. She is continually inspired by the kindness and support people show to small businesses and handmade artists.

Be sure to stop by and browse her collection of lightweight earrings, including holiday designs, NDSU and UND-inspired styles, and her personal favorites—cheetah print and rodeo-themed earrings that reflect her farm upbringing.

Every pair is carefully handcrafted with the goal of helping someone feel beautiful, confident, and perfectly put together.

Join us this Saturday from 10am–4pm at The Vault Coffee Shop in Valley City. Our vendors pour their hearts into what they create, and every purchase is a meaningful way to support local artists, bakers, makers, and dreamers. Come enjoy a cup of coffee, explore unique handmade goods, and help us celebrate the amazing talent in our community. ❤️

Artist Spotlight – What the Scrap!

What the Scrap! began with a simple idea: creating practical items that people can use every day. My most popular item is my handmade scrubbies, which are great for washing dishes, cleaning grills, and even removing bugs from windshields.

While scrubbies are my specialty, I love creating all kinds of crocheted items. Over the years I've made fingerless gloves, cotton dishcloths, tied blankets, and burp cloths, which I began making after my second grandchild was born.

I first discovered scrubbies at rummage sales and craft shows and decided to create my own version. As a traveling CNA for the past five years, I've worked all over the country and wanted a relaxing, creative hobby that I could take with me on the road. Crafting became the perfect way to unwind after long days at work.

One thing that surprised me was just how much people love scrubbies! They continue to be my best-selling item, and customers regularly reach out looking for more. I've sold them throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and many of the places I've traveled.

This weekend I'll be focusing exclusively on scrubbies. After recently having pacemaker surgery and spending much of my time working long hours, I haven't had the opportunity to create some of the other items I'd like to bring back this fall. But I've been working diligently to prepare plenty of scrubbies for the event!

I'm excited to get my name out there, meet new people, and be part of the Sip & Shop. I accept cash, Venmo, and PayPal.

Thank you for supporting local makers and small businesses!

We hope you'll join us this Saturday from 10am–4pm at The Vault Coffee Shop in Valley City. Our vendors pour their hearts into what they create, and every purchase is a meaningful way to support local artists, bakers, makers, and dreamers. Come enjoy a cup of coffee, explore unique handmade goods, and help us celebrate the amazing talent in our community.
