Coffee from Papua New Guinea is a little different. ☕️🌿
Unlike many coffee-growing regions where a single farm might grow, process, and sell its own coffee, PNG’s coffee industry is largely made up of smallholder farmers.
Our upcoming light roast comes from 600 producers across the Jiwaka and Western Highlands regions who tend small plots where coffee grows alongside the fruits and vegetables that support their families. Each year, they bring their coffee cherry to local mills, where quality is assessed and growers are paid based on the quality + quantity they deliver.
Coffee is an important cash crop for many PNG farming families, providing income for things they can’t produce themselves, from rice and household fuel to livestock and other necessities.
From there, the coffee is processed, milled, exported, and eventually roasted light right here on the West Coast to protect the intensely fruit-forward sweetness that makes this coffee so special. 🍓🍑
And this one is fruity. Like, really fruity. ☕️🍓🍑🍒
