The brief was for an elegant joint 50th birthday cake for an afrobeat DJ and wife who loves flowers.

The challenge was to keep it both masculine and feminine, incorporate both interests seamlessly and still keep it classy.

Something about the endless possibilities in a fondant blank cake canvas excites the heck out of me.

If I could skip through baking, filling and crumb coating to just decorating, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

So today I’m not posting any cake reel with transitions or showcasing any design. I just want to focus on this beautifully textured blank canvas in an old school photo post.

This 3 tier wedding anniversary cake was a big one! I decided to go with sugar flowers because I wanted a solid yet soft look which I imagine 50 years of marriage would be.

Of course I used Satin Ice fondant per usual 😃

Background and cake stand were AI added. Check out my previous posts on integrating AI into your portfolio. This was much needed because of the background at the venue.
