Realistically, it takes almost two years to get beef from pasture to plate. (In all honesty, it’s more than that if you include gestation, but we won’t count that).

So today, I’m creep feeding our 7 month old calves to make sure they are getting the extra nutrition, learning what the feed is, and are adjusting to what it will be like when they are weaned and off mamas milk.

In just a few weeks, these calves will move from their pasture to be weaned and into a grower pen where they will stay for 60-90 days before being shipped to their new home or moving into our “finishing program”.
