The kids are on summer break, but you're not. Why not work remotely during the day, spend your working hours at the Red Feather Lodge, and off hours exploring Tusayan and the Grand Canyon, just 1 mile from the south entrance. Bring your bikes and bike the Greenway trail. If you have a 4th grader, they get free entry into all National Parks, go to https://www.recreation.gov/interagency-pass/types/fourth-grade

Location, AWESOME STAFF, Location!!
The front desk staff could not have been more pleasant, professional, or efficient on our group tour's visit on May 17-19, 2026. Special shout-outs to Dillon, Marion, Divine, Julia, Maria, Isabel for all their hard work! This is my 4th time staying with these fine folks and they are always so kind to me and the students. Clean rooms, wonderful staff, and perfect home base when visiting the Grand Canyon! Thank you, Red Feather Lodge!

Summer Schedule
May 23, through September 11, 2026
80 minutes round trip (without getting off the bus)

First bus is at 8 am — last bus is one hour after sunset

Every 15 minutes: 8 am to 10:30 am
Every 8 minutes: 10:30 am to one hour after sunset

Hermit Rest Route - Need to Know
Outbound buses stop at all nine overlooks.

Return trip buses stop only at these 4 stops:
Hermits Rest, Pima, Mohave, and Powell Points (see loop map below).

The last outbound bus leaves the Village Transfer Station at sunset.

The last return bus sweeps one hour after sunset.

The last return bus stops at all Hermit Road bus stops on the way back to the village.

During the busy seasons, the line can be long at the Hermit Road Transfer Station – you may have to wait in line for two to three buses.

If you don't want to wait in the shuttle line, and are capable of a short, but strenuous hike on a paved footpath, walk 0.7 mi (1.1 km) up to Trailview Overlook, where you can board an outbound shuttle buse —or continue walking along the Canyon Rim Trail as far as Hermits Rest, 7.1 miles (11.4 km).
