This dish traveled more than 5,000 miles to get to Tulsa.

Well... sort of.

Rob's grandfather Angelo Aloisio grew up in a small village in Abruzzi, Italy. At 16, he came to America, became a chef and brought something important with him: The family recipes.

Those recipes eventually found their way into the kitchen of the neighborhood Italian restaurant Rob's parents opened in Tulsa in 1969.

So when you see Abruzzi by the Sea on our menu, the name isn't just there because it sounds Italian. It's home.

Shrimp. Scallops. Mussels. Roma tomatoes. Mushroom caps. White wine. Lemon butter. Linguini.

A little taste of where the Aloisio story began—served right here in Brookside.

🇮🇹 → ❤️ → Tulsa

The heat is on. 🔥

That's an Alaskan salmon filet hitting a hot skillet—and now you have a decision to make.

Are we being responsible today?

🥗 Salmon Caesar
🥗 Grilled or Blackened Salmon Salad

Or have we decided that linguini, white wine, garlic butter, mushrooms, capers and our family's homemade piccata sauce are also part of a well-balanced life?

Because in that case...

🍋 Salmon Piccata.

It's a Mondo's house favorite for a reason.

And if you're going all in, do it properly: pair it with a glass of Cantina di Caldaro Pinot Bianco.

Light-ish. Decadent-ish.

We support you either way.

Somewhere, somebody decided National Cheese Pizza Day should fall on the same Saturday Tulsa plays Oklahoma State.

We respect that level of planning. 🍕🏈 So here's our proposed game-day strategy:

1. Gather your people, head to Mondo’s. (We open at 11 am.)
2. Order the pizza.
3. Debate who's winning.
4. Eat more pizza.
5. Head to the game.
6. Revisit everyone's predictions afterward.

TU takes on Oklahoma State, and whether you're wearing blue, orange, or simply rooting for your favorite pizza topping, we'll feed you before kickoff.

Because there are some things we can all agree on… Cheese. Sauce. Crust. And FOOTBALL 🤌

Every face on the wall has a story.

Some are just a little more colorful than others 😜

Meet Uncle Jerry Fasolino—Papa Lou's first uncle and, according to Aloisio family lore, a well-known and well-connected character in New York City.

And then there's the Rembrandt.

The family story goes that Uncle Jerry stole The Rabbi, a painting by Rembrandt. He apparently got away with it for a few years... until he tried to sell it to an undercover FBI agent.

That landed him in jail. But Uncle Jerry's story didn't end there.

When World War II broke out, “serving time” took on a new twist: he entered military service and went on to become a decorated captain, receiving two Purple Hearts.

Quite the résumé.

In our first Faces on the Wall, Aaron Aloisio introduces us to Uncle Jerry and tells the story behind one of the many faces that have become part of Mondo's walls—and the Aloisio family history.

Because around here, the pictures aren't décor. They're family.

More than a meal. It's Mondo's.

September looks pretty good from where we're sitting.

College football is back. The evenings are eventually going to cool down (… right?! 🙏🙏🙏) The rooftop is waiting. And later this month Tony Sabelo and the Tulsa Rat Pack are bringing a little Sinatra swagger to Mondo's. (SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, September 17)

But some of our favorite September plans aren't really plans at all.

It's the friend who texts, “Mondo's happy hour this week?”
The dinner that somehow grows from four people to six.
A glass of wine that turns into dinner. (We see these moments from across the bar and love them!)
And somebody saying, “We haven't been here in forever,” even though it's only been three weeks.

This is September at Mondo's.

More than a meal. It's Mondo's.

Five stars are wonderful ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

But “it reminded me of my mom’s”? That may be the highest compliment an Italian kitchen can receive ❤️

Toby and his wife stopped in for lunch and ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. One plate of spaghetti later, he was thinking about home.

Maybe that’s what family recipes do. Maybe that’s what family recipes do. They don’t just fill the table—they take you back to where you belong.

Thank you, Toby. We’re honored to be part of the memory.

Now we want to hear yours: Which Mondo’s dish tastes like a memory to you?
