📕 KNOWN AS THE OKIE POET, MCDANIEL FLED THE OKLAHOMA DUST BOWL FOR THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY IN THE 1930s. A PROLIFIC WRITER, SHE CAPTURED THE MIGRANT EXPERIENCE AND THE LIVES OF WORKING PEOPLE IN HER POETRY. SHE BECAME TULARE’S POET LAUREATE IN 1975.
