Zio takes the win again. Thanks for everyone who came out to Pizza Throwdown 2026 and voted for us.

We were serving up our infamous Birria pizza featuring Chef Juan Almanza’s legendary birria. In addition we served a pizza called the “Jam Sesh”. It was a pie with Fresh Mozz, Honey Chamomile Goat Cheese, Prosciutto, and Shallot Jam.

Tucson Originals Presents the 2026 Pizza Throwdown & Dessert Duel!

Tucson Originals returns with one of the city’s most anticipated food events: the 2026 Pizza Throwdown & Dessert Duel. Join us on Saturday, May 23rd from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Fresco Pizzeria & Pastaria (3011 E Speedway Blvd) for a night of incredible local pizza, inventive desserts, craft beer and local wine.

This annual competition brings together some of Tucson’s top pizzerias and pastry pros for a friendly battle of flavor and creativity. Guests will enjoy unlimited samples of both pizza and desserts while casting their votes to decide who takes home this year’s Pizza Throwdown Champion and Dessert Duel Winner.
