As a founding foremother of our restaurant, Ana Granillo worked tirelessly making Tamales, Carne Seca, and "Gorditas" all while battling cancer.

Our Tia Ana lost her battle with cancer this past week, but not before imparting our family with not only beautiful memories but with some of the most delicious recipes, which we use today.

Ana ran the little "St Mary’s Hot Tamale Factory" from 1973-1986. As her sight began to fail, she passed on the day to day to her sister and brother-in-law, Jose Luis Salazar. Ana continued to work at the restaurant preparing nixtamal and tripe for the Menudo from scratch for her 6 batches for Saturday and Sunday.

“This woman worked her fingers to the bone. Sight failing her she did most tasks by muscle memory.”, said her nephew. “My Tia was one hard-working woman. I am proud to be part of a family filled with women that would shame most men with their work ethic.”

Ana Maria Castro Granillo - 1/2/51 - 10/16/20 – She will be loved, missed, and will NEVER be forgotten.

Please enter on the St. Marys, street side door. The priority is to get customers in and out quickly to avoid contact and exposure. We are taking call-in and walk-in customers.
Food orders will be prepared in order received and we won't wait to make items that might get soggy. Thank you for your understanding. This to, shall pass, stay safe, support local. - Salazar Family

As a practice, unfortunately we don't ship out of state due to the cost prohibitive nature. If a customer is willing to provide a logistics vendor, we could take the order and prep for pickup.

Sorry it isn't the ideal answer, but we hope to serve you.

All the best, Salazar Family.
