A pizza place also known for its shareable salads and Italian specialties in Trenton will close with new owners coming in.

“The Grotto Pizzeria and Tavern to Close this Sunday January 12th, and new owners coming with new restaurant”

After serving our Famiglia of customers with Italian food, warm hospitality, and cherished memories, The Grotto Pizzeria and Tavern is announcing its closure. The location has been sold to new owners, with its final day of business scheduled for Sunday, January 12th 2025.

“This decision was not made lightly,” said Robert Sawyer, owner of The Grotto-
“I am incredibly grateful to our loyal customers who have supported us over the last almost 5 years. It has been an honor to be a part of your lives and celebrations.”

“It has been a ride buying at the start of Covid, Bridge closure, and our current economy.
I have had some wonderful times, and also challenging experiences.
I am extremely proud of the food and experience that was provided. I have decided to focus all of my love
for pizza, and Italian food at my location “JJ’s Pizza” in Wyandotte.

Basghetti Catering Company will also move to Wyandotte continuing great Italian catering, and where i will make great pizzas for many years to come” - said Sawyer.

The final week of operations will feature The Grotto’s full menu, and heartfelt goodbyes as the staff thanks customers for their unwavering support. Patrons are invited to visit one last time to enjoy their favorite pizza, Italian dishes, and amazing drinks.

While The Grotto will be closing its doors under current ownership, we are happy to see the next chapter for the location under its new proprietors.

Open Monday - Friday 4pm-9pm
Saturday and Sunday 11:30-9pm
