Milkshake (sourdough starter) is doing AMAZING...and smelling even better!!

The black line on jar is where we started this morning, after feeding. 12 days old today! Going to give her a couple more weeks to really be ready, and then we'll be ready for baking!❤️

Trying to decide what I should make first....
- Jalapeño Cheddar Loaf, or
- Regular Sandwich Loaf

Tried a new experiment in the kitchen today.

First time ever making Potato Bread❤️

Let's just say...it probably won't be my last, but definitely won't be making it more than a couple times a month.

A little over FOUR HOURS to make, but it's finally done!!

*Definitely getting some actual bread pans soon

Just wait til you see what Milkshake has been up to!👀😮

I'll post photos today or tomorrow, but our sourdough starter, Milkshake, has been doing awesome. We are on day 12!! Going to give her a couple more weeks and then we'll be baking our own sourdough bread!😮😍

The kids have loved helping feed her and take care of her. She's now doubling, and even tripling, after every feed. ❤️

Can't wait to see how the bread does!

If you’ve followed Candyland Sweets for a while, you know this little business has been so much more than baking for me (which I'll be sharing morenof in upcoming posts). ❤️

After a LOT of prayer and thought, I’ve decided that Saturday, September 19th will be Closing Day for Candyland Sweets.

But if I'm going, I want to go out with ONE LAST EVENT before closing.

🎶 Music on the Square- Trenton, TN — 4:30PM–7:30PM

I’m bringing ALL the favorites and a few new options!🍫

Save the date. Tell your friends. And come see Candyland Sweets one last time.

👀 I HAVE SOMETHING TO TELL YOU…

I’ve been praying and thinking about this for a bit now, and I finally feel like I’m ready to share it.

It’s a pretty BIG announcement for Candyland Sweets… and honestly, it comes with a LOT of emotions. ❤️

There are some exciting things coming, but also a decision I never thought would be so hard to make.

I’ll be sharing everything VERY SOON.

Oh Lord… this child. 😂😂😂

So, a couple days ago I had this conversation with my 4-year-old, Harley…

HARLEY: “Mom, I got an easy idea. I can take some flour and put it in my cup of water and make a milkshake.”

ME: “Ummm… milkshakes are made with milk and ice cream.”

HARLEY: “Yeah, that's right. But can I do it? I know how.”

ME: “How are you gonna do it?”

HARLEY: “I done told you… a little flour and water and shake it.” 😂

And y’all… my FIRST thought was:
“That’s a sourdough starter.” 🤣

So naturally, instead of correcting her and moving on with my life, I apparently decided to take this as a sign and WE NOW HAVE A SOURDOUGH STARTER. 😂

And yes… her name is Milkshake. 🥛😂

I was actually planning to make a video showing y’all the process of making the starter, but in true mom fashion… I completely forgot to take pictures or video of ANY of it. 🤦‍♀️🤣

So I owe y’all an apology…
You were supposed to get a cute little “Come make a sourdough starter with me” video.

Instead, you get a story about how my 4-year-old accidentally gave me a reminder to start the sourdough starter journey. 😂😂

Please pray for me because apparently I’m now raising children AND sourdough starter.🤣🤷‍♀️

And if Milkshake survives, we’ll consider this a success. 🤣🥛🍞
