We’ve got some new ✨local✨ art available on our walls! Anne Bagley is an artist, poet, beautiful soul AND happens to be one door up from the Down-Leau (her art gallery where you can browse more stunning originals, prints, greeting cards and so much more is the brick building next to us!). The paintings on display in the coffee shop are a curated selection of landscape and nature focused scenes - truly capturing the unique and geographically diverse beauty of the driftless area!

Also shown in this video is Frieda Soul stunning fiber art made in Holmen and Fat Duck Designs woodworking crafted right here in Trempealeau. This community is abundant with talented artists and we are so grateful for the opportunity to host such beauty on our modest walls!

I know I post a decent amount of mushy stuff on here; and the truth is, this place holds a huge piece of my heart and life…and oversharing is my love language 🤪
9 months ago I quit my full time position in corporate America to chase this seemingly wild dream I was so compelled toward. Kyle and I poured everything into making this space our own, to achieve the aesthetic vision and feeling we had conceptualized.
6 months ago (yesterday) we turned the open sign on for The Down-Leau for the first time! I have been SO grateful for every single day since then. Every interaction, transaction, conversation and learning opportunity marked in this half-year milestone feels so, so fulfilling 🥹! I am endlessly grateful and appreciative of this community and the small team I *get* to work along side 6 days a week. I’d also like to shout it from the caboose rooftop how grateful I am for my relentlessly supportive, thoughtful, creative, talented, jack of all trades, kind partner, Kyle.

ANYWHOOOO CHEERS TO 6 MONTHS AT THE DOWN-LEAU! Thanks for being here - I mean it 💖

The last weekend in September has always been a special time for us!
🍺🥨2018: Kyle won the La Crosse Oktoberfest button design contest and we were surrounded by so many family and friends to celebrate!
🦆2024: we were trying to grow our Fat Duck Designs business and had our first solo booth at CranFest in Warrens!
☕️ 2026: we get to hang out in this cozy little coffee shop (where we are grateful to have the opportunity to continue sharing Fat Duck Designs) surrounded by the absolute best community!
Wherever your last weekend of September takes you this year - I hope it’s fun, you make good choices and drink LOTS of water (and maybe some local coffee) 😉

This photo sums up how ‘Monday’ this Monday was for me 🤪 we opened up late due to some scheduling confusion, messes were made and a delivery that was supposed to arrive didn’t…. BUT ALSO: our sales were up drastically over last week 🥹 we DID open, the messes were cleaned and reset, the delivery will probably come tomorrow; it wasn’t a perfect day and yet I’m feeling sooo grateful for a busy Monday in the beginning of the ‘off season’…So please, PLEASE know how much your local purchase means to us 💖 every time you stop in, every compliment or kind word, every purchase big or small, every *everything* matters with a town as small as this, and a team as small as ours it’s not lost on me how fortunate I am!
Not every day is perfect, but there certainly is beauty in every day! Thanks for being here!
