Two glasses of red w**e at the dinner table with Papa meant I was in for a treat.
I knew there was a story coming… One filled with history, direction, and purpose. For the next hour, I’d have his wisdom, his care, his love, and his support. Papa became a father figure to me. He gave me discipline, pushed me outside my comfort zone, and taught me not to be afraid of change.
Now I picture two glasses poured at the bar at Bushell’s, and I wish we could share one more conversation. About life and purpose. The goals I’m chasing, the challenges I’m facing, and the mistakes I’m learning from. I can almost hear him reminding me that it’s okay.
That’s why Nurses Night felt just right. It’s a chance to give back to people who spend their days caring for others and to remember healthcare workers like Papa, who give so much of their lives to caring for their community through medicine.
This night is for the nurses whose hard work deserves to be seen.
I’d give anything to pour that second glass for him. ❤️
Love you Papa.
