Recently, a customer left a review describing our atmosphere as “a bougie Chuck E. I don’t talk about this often, but I’ve struggled with my mental health for a long time.

Being a man today is heavier than most of us admit. We’re expected to be steady, provide, stay strong, stay calm, figure everything out — and do it quietly. We carry the pressure of money, family, marriage, work, and identity, often without a place to set it down. And when we start to feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted, we’re told to push harder or “man up.”

Some days it feels like the world is coming apart, and you’re still expected to hold everything together.

I’ve felt that weight. I’ve felt the fear of not being enough, the stress of providing, the tension between being present and being productive, and the loneliness that can come from trying to be strong all the time. And I know I’m not the only one.

That’s why we’re starting a men’s group at The Old Moose.

Not therapy. Not fixing. Just a place to sit down, check in, and talk honestly about what it’s like to be a man, a husband, a father, a human — in a world that feels increasingly demanding.

We meet every Tuesday.

At Paradigm, we invest heavily in our people because great hospitality doesn’t come from recipes — it comes from knowledge, experience, and growth.

Over the past year, our team has been learning the foundations of professional kitchens: discipline, sourcing, preservation, whole-animal respect, scratch cooking, and the ability to think creatively under pressure.

This Friday, we step back and let them lead.

Our cooks will organize, design, and execute the entire service themselves — building a menu from what remains in our kitchens as we prepare for a short seasonal closure. It’s a real-world test of everything they’ve learned and a chance for them to take ownership of their craft.

This donation dinner directly supports the next step in their education: traveling together to Lima, Peru — one of the most important food cities in the world — where they will experience new techniques, cultures, and perspectives that they’ll bring back home to our dining room.

When you join us for this service, you’re not just coming to eat — you’re helping shape the future of the people who cook for you year-round.
