We LOVE our ! Earl Grey is one of the most instantly recognizable teas on the planet. Current legend states that the blend was created in the 1800’s for British Prime Minister Charles Grey, when Chinese black tea was scented with fragrant bergamot (a coastal Mediterranean citrus fruit). Whether or not the story is absolutely true, the pairing has been extremely popular ever since.

Our Earl Grey starts with a smooth black tea as a base, combined with bright bergamot oil. The citrus smell out of the bag is distinct and pungent; the aroma and flavor melds beautifully with the black tea once it’s brewed. The bergamot is the first thing you taste, with the smooth tannic finish of the black tea pleasantly coating your mouth as you swallow your sip.

This classic tea is incredibly uplifting; a great start to your morning at home, but just as enjoyable as an afternoon pick-me-up. Earl Grey is lovely with a splash of vanilla syrup (bonus points if it’s homemade) and some milk; there’s nothing quite like a London Fog. Even iced or cold brewed, the bergamot remains king (or Earl, if you will) and is the highlight of this tea.

Assam is grown in the Assam region of northeastern India, and is one of the world’s most beloved black teas. The region’s warm climate, heavy rainfall, and rich soil along the banks of the Brahmaputra River create ideal conditions for producing teas known for their strength, depth, and malty character.

Our Assam brews to a bold, amber color with a note of toasted grain. The flavor is rich, malty, and full bodied, with a comforting strength that makes it a natural choice for a first-cup-of-the-day brew, or an afternoon reset.

Assam has long been a cornerstone of traditional black teas, well loved for its ability to maintain its flavor alongside milk and sugar in a tea latte. Whether enjoyed plain, “dressed up,” hot, or iced, this is the kind of tea that feels grounding and familiar from the very first sip.

My favorite little family with my favorite little toddler (that’s not my own) came in to visit today, and the baby LOVED my chalkboard. I’ll fix it up for display, of course, but FYI, the Zen’s Tea Torrance team and I have decided to take a much needed break. We WILL be in the area and available to take care of any “Tea-Mergencies” you might have from 9/7-9/13 and feel free to shoot Claire a call or text, but we will be AWAY from the area from 9/14-9/22. We’ll see you back for our normal schedule on 9/23!! Thanks for your continued understanding and patronage!!

We were unexpectedly closed on Friday and Saturday of last week. We are incredibly thankful that we run our own business, and we were able to take care of family when the need arose.
