Time for me to get on my soap box.

Last night, we had a full house, every table booked, even had to turn down a couple of requests for reservation because ... we were full.

Well, we had a table of 6 people and another one of 3 people who both decided not to show up, no calls, nothing.

I not only lost the sales from those two parties, but I also lost possible sales because we were saving those tables for the "customers" who had taken their time to make the reservations. The same customers who did not have the manners nor the decency to cancel their reservations.

We are a very small business, we only have 34 chairs, so that was almost a third of the entire restaurant, and this behavior by some "customers" makes it really hard to keep the doors open.

I am at a loss. There are quite a few restaurants who require a credit card with a reservation, and will charge you a fee if you don't show up, even if you call to cancel less than a specific amount of hours before your reservation. I have considered this avenue, but I like to treat people honorably and with respect, and maybe it is way too much when I expect similar behavior towards me and my business.

Anyway, I don't want to take up more of your time.

On the flip side, I just welcomed two more names to my reservations black list 😁
