Whiskey Caramel Bread Pudding
Ingredients:
- 6 cups of stale bread cubes (about 1-inch pieces)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups of milk
-¼ teaspoon salt
-3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1/4 cup of whiskey
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (such as pecans or walnuts), optional
-ice cream optional
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Small the pan the thicker the slices.
2. Pour favorite caramel on the bottom surface of a greased pan.
3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs. Add the milk, whiskey, and vanilla extract, cinnamon, butter, salt and mix well.
4. Place the bread cubes in egg mixture. Folding bread in, to mix everything together. Don’t mash. You want the bread to keep its form.
5. Let the mixture sit for about 20 minutes to allow the bread to fully absorb the liquid.
6. Place the baking dish with water in oven. This will keep moisture in oven.
7. Transfer the pans to the preheated oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the pudding is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Once done, remove the pudding from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. You can serve it warm or at room temperature.
9. To serve, invert the pudding onto a serving platter, allowing the caramel to drizzle over the top. Add powdered sugar.
10. You can optionally drizzle additional caramel sauce over individual servings for extra sweetness.
