This photo was from a few years back at Joe's birthday party. You've got Joe & Patti, Kirk & Angie, Trace & Amanda, and me & Chris.

I had heard about Joe from Chris, but didn't know him well at all. That night, in a packed room, so many people took the microphone to talk about how much they loved Joe and the positive influence that he had been in their lives, it was downright humbling.

I remember telling him recently that I had thought how lucky he was because most people wait until your funeral to say such nice things about you, but he got to hear those things that night!

We say it all the time, but Craft Grill would not exist without Joe & Patti, and they have been the best partners we could've ever wished for. Thanks again for everything you both do, and we hope for many more years just "playing restaurant" together with you.

In the 1940s, you could imagine Doris Duke enjoying an Extra Dry Gin Martini-on-the-Rocks in the garden on a perfect spring evening just like tonight.🍸🎶

Today, that same timeless elegance lives on right here at Craft Grill in The Woodlands, Spring, and Tomball area. Our stunning garden room windows that separate our Tap Room and dining room were rescued from her 100-year-old Somerset County, New Jersey home—saved from demolition in 2016, the very same year Craft Grill opened. Very serendipitous!🥰

And while the classics never go out of style, we think we may have perfected the experience—serving martinis over ice balls so they stay colder longer and melt slower, keeping every sip crisp, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Another great day at Craft Grill! Chris was busy doing his favorite thing; stopping by every table to do 'table touches', and lo and behold, he sees a familiar face of an old friend; Clive Berkman. Clive was there with a friend of his, John Bible, just out enjoying lunch together at Craft.

Way back in the '70's & '80's, (which feels like just yesterday to some of us), Clive was the owner and chef of a very nice place in downtown Houston called Charley's 517 at the Lancaster Hotel. Chris was next door, running a place called Longhorn Cafe, owned by Julian Fertitta, on Louisiana Street. So many great memories made at both places & just in downtown Houston, too!

Clive wrote a book once upon a time back in 2009 called "Creating Empty Bottle Moments: Cooking with Clive". We have a copy and love it as it is filled with not only Clive's recipes, but also so many of his memorable moments that he has shared with others. It's available on Amazon, if you're interested; we highly recommend it.

EDIT: So, yes, this was an April Fool's joke, but we do actually own the Barbecue Beast and use it for catering events, but no, it does not have a rooftop lounge. But, man, so many of you liked the idea that we may have to come up with a hybrid plan to make this a real thing!
