We’ve been playing catch-up around here this week after such a busy weekend! We’ve had family visiting, I’ve been baking for the football team again, working around the house, and getting everything restocked after the Farm Crawl. And y’all, if you could see the grocery haul from restocking all my baking supplies 😂
First, thank y’all so much for stopping by the farm stand during the Farm Crawl last Saturday. It was so much fun seeing that many people come through, and we pretty much sold out of everything. I’m so thankful for every one of you who stopped, shopped, shared, or told somebody about us. 🤍
I do try to keep eggs down there all the time, so if you’re just coming by for eggs, there should usually be some there. If you get down there and don’t see any, use the Ring camera or call/text the number posted at the stand. Most of the time we have eggs here that just haven’t made it into cartons yet, and I can usually get some restocked pretty quickly.
I was hoping to have a lot more out today, but I just haven’t gotten that far yet. I’m working on it! I will have the stand stocked tomorrow with some fresh bread, banana bread, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and eggs. 🍞🥚
I’ve also had some fun this week baking cakes. I had a birthday cake request and ended up making two red velvet cakes, and both families who picked them up said they were really good, so that made me happy. ❤️ With the holidays coming up, I’ll probably be doing more cakes and things like that too. I can’t put those down at the stand, but if you ever need one, just send me a message and we can work it out as a private order.
Speaking of restocking and buying in bulk, most of y’all already know groceries are expensive right now. I’m a pretty savvy shopper, and I don’t like spending more on something than I have to. I like to shop around, buy in bulk when it makes sense, and get the best quality I can for the best price I can.
As some of y’all are well aware, Costco and Sam’s don’t deliver the perishable stuff out here, so I had to make the trip and stock up on all that butter and everything else myself. I was hoping to make it over to Bell’s Grocery too, but by the time I got there, they were sold out.
I keep up with what my recipes actually cost me to make, because there’s a lot more to it than flour and sugar. There’s butter, cream, cocoa, vanilla, pecans, chocolate, bread flour, bags, boxes, labels, and all the little things that go along with it. So when you see the prices at the stand, just know I really do try to keep them as reasonable as I can based on what it costs me to make everything.
At the end of the day, this is really just a big hobby that I love. I’ve told y’all before, I really enjoy baking. I love trying new recipes, making new things, figuring out how to make something better, and then getting to share it with everybody. It really is just fun for me.
Several of y’all have told me I need to open a bakery, and I always laugh a little because… maybe one day. 😂 I still look at that place across the street and think about everything it could be. I’ve actually talked to the owners agent, but right now his expectations for the rent and what he wants for the property are still somewhere up in the clouds, especially considering how much work the place needs.
But if those numbers ever float back down to earth and we can strike up a deal that actually makes sense, I would love to do something with it one day.
I can just see a little bakery over there, maybe a pottery studio, plants and garden things, a place to sit and visit… just one of those sweet little places where you could bring your family, grab something good to eat, look around, and feel comfortable staying awhile.
I think our area could always use more places like that. Just good, welcoming places where families can come and enjoy themselves. Who knows what the Lord has in store, but it sure is fun to think about. 🤍
And if you enjoy the stand, please help me spread the word. Share the page, like it, and tell your friends about us. That really does mean so much to us.
This page is where you’ll hear about things first. If I know what I’m putting out tomorrow, I’ll give y’all a heads-up here. And when I’m taking things down and packing the coolers full, I usually post it here right then so you know what’s available.
So share, share, share, please. 🤍 I put a lot of work into making everything, and I’d much rather y’all know it’s down there than have people wondering if the stand has anything that day.
If you want to know when the fresh stuff hits the stand, this is the place to watch first.
Well, I have really shared a lot today. 😂 This turned into a long post, and for those of you who made it all the way down to the very end, y’all are so cool.
But I’ve got to get back up so I can get these cookies made and packaged. I just wanted to hop on real quick and give y’all a little update.
And I do want to say thank y’all so much again. I can never thank y’all enough for supporting us and this little stand. Y’all have no idea how much it means to us. From getting to meet some of you, to the conversations we’ve had, to just the kindness y’all have shown, it really does warm my heart.
There are some really good people out here, and I’m so thankful this little farm stand has given us a way to connect with so many of you.
Now I really do have to get back to these cookies. 😂
