With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of our teammate, Armone.

Finches had the pleasure of getting to know and adore this young man during the last few months of operation. He was talented, kind and downright lovable.

Kitchens are not known for their tenderness, but Armone melted the hearts of even the most seasoned chefs and all who worked alongside him.

This loss has devastated our restaurant friends and family at the Wyld, where Armone spent most of his career and will leave a great void in the heart of their restaurant. We love you guys and are so, so sad for you all.

This tragedy is a painful reminder of how fragile life is. As we enjoy the beauty of our Savannah coastline, may we remember to respect the power of our waterways.

Well, it’s been nearly two months since we closed up shop. TBH, I’ve not had the capacity or motivation to even log in and say hi. But we owe you an update. What we went through over the last couple months is such a blur. So many of you stepped up and helped out in the craziest of ways. There were some really physically long and emotionally brutal days of moving (as pictured) and y’all helped us through. Thank you.

We are so grateful for the support with the Go Fund Me, it has been an outpouring of generosity and love and we are feeling it & putting it to good use. Safe to say we’re on track to reopen nearby! We just did our third walkthrough of a potential space and feel really, really good about things. Our lips are sealed but please stay tuned!

As far as personal updates:
Jamie moved to Florida & is loving it so far! She will be back and forth during the reopening process, but is taking some time while I’m here figuring out next steps. My wheels are already spinning and I’m looking for some stable part time work while I balance mom life/waiting for permits and such.

Our team is keeping busy, say hello when you see them around town. Chef Mike is currently doing tours downtown and is on board with our reopening.

We are being practical and patient while we wait for what’s next. On the up and up. We miss you. It’s weird not to be feeding you, yucking it up on the lawn, petting the pups. Life’s not the same without Finches 💔 but we promise we will be back soon. 🤞

We hate to let ya’ll down. We hoped to tell as many of you face-to-face, we’re sorry if that opportunity didn’t present itself. There are so many of you to thank.

After an agonizing few months of negotiations, our lease and option to purchase has been terminated.

We tried multiple avenues of funding, and each time reached the same conclusion. The answer was repeatedly ‘no’. Purchasing a former gas station comes with great risk, as environmental damages are a very costly cleanup, and this property lacks historic documentation & requires further investigation. At the end of the day, we (as well as the SBAC, our banks & advisors) decided the risk was greater than we could afford to take.

We would like to thank our staff, and former staff members, for their dedication and hard work. There was no us without them.

Please keep all of us in mind as we navigate what comes next. Our final days of service are fast approaching, and we all need jobs in the coming weeks.

We will be running service as usual as long as we can. We will keep you updated as best we can. Drop by, say hi… we could use some hugs. And puppies. Please bring puppies. ♥️ Rebecca & Jamie
