It’s bittersweet to announce that as of December 11 we will be closing our doors for good. Since 1974 we’ve had the great pleasure of serving guests at four different restaurants - Thorndale Piazza Deli, Cafe Gap, Pronto and Ruffini’s/Pronto Bistro. This has always been more than just a business; it’s been our lives. For almost five decades and spanning four generations, we worked together as a family, side by side. It was our mission to create a place where everyone felt welcome and where you could share a great meal with family and friends any day of the week.
It’s difficult to express all the emotions we feel as we say goodbye to a place that held us for so long. A place where Mom Mom hand rolled meatballs, where Shelby and Jim got married, where community came together to celebrate birth and grieve loved ones who’d passed.
We've been on the path to sell for a while, and now Ron and Nancy are eager to retire and spend more time traveling and playing with their grandkids. Ronnie, Nina and Nick are excited to continue the pursuit of their own endeavors outside of the restaurant world.
Words can not express our gratitude for your continued support and patronage over the years and the lifelong friends we’ve made along the way.
To our past and present employees, thank you for everything! It’s impossible to count how many people have worked for us over the years and became like family. None of this would have been possible without you and all your hard work.
And thank you, Thorndale, for allowing us to call this place home for nearly 50 years.
We hope to see you for one last drink before we officially close on December 11th.
