All items are $1 regardless of size or fillings (except doughnut holes--4/.25) Open 8-4 weekdays, 8-2 on Saturday, and by order on Sundays.

Fresh Doughnuts
Our doughnuts are always fresh- no prepackaged, preprocessed, frozen, or made somewhere else! If you really want a good doughnut, come in to Papa's.
Now open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for winter hours 8-4.

We are your only home-made doughnut source in Thompson Falls--give us a try!

Are we hibernating yet?

Since the turn of the clock, it feels like people are coming in later, so Papa has decided to sleep in an extra hour! Following the example of many local businesses, Papa's Donuts will open later and stay open a little later: 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Saturdays will be "unscheduled," with an opening time of 8 a.m. and a planned closing at 2 p.m., but with a variety of Saturday events during the holidays, it's a possibility that we will close. For instance, on Saturday, Dec. 14, we will be at the Trout Creek Christmas Bazaar.

On Sundays, we will prepare donuts and baked goods as ordered for special events, such as the once-monthly donuts for the local churches.(Remember to call in your order for the holidays!)

Those of you who stop by on your way to work and leave your dollar--you may continue doing that. We're usually just in the kitchen or washing pans.

We want to thank all of our customers for your support of Papa's Donuts. People from Thompson Falls, Plains, Trout Creek, Noxon and Heron have come in, as well as some from Libby and Troy. Our farthest-from-home visitor was from New York!

As you are getting ready for what may be a long winter, don't forget Papa's Donuts, where the goal is to make "just a real, good donut!"

Winter is here
I've noticed that the colder weather is keeping people inside longer in the morning--unless, of course, you're working! We've thought about extending our winter hours to accommodate those of you who wait for the day to warm up a bit before venturing out--what do you think? 3 o'clock? 4? We're happy to stay open as long as we have customers! Just let us know what would work for you.

Many of you have been asking for a menu. I will get that created and printed, but this is the deal: We make donuts, plain and simple. Raised glazed, raised chocolate, maple bars, cake plain, vanilla and chocolate; chocolate cake donuts, and donut holes. Our baked goods include sweet rolls, bear claws and bow ties. Nothing filled, nothing fancy.

There's just the two of us, Papa, the donut-maker, and me, Mama, the gofer. Our goods are home MADE, not just home baked. It takes Papa about 2-1/2 hours to make 5 dozen raised donuts, and another hour to make 5 dozen cake donuts. Baked good such as sweet rolls, bear claws, and bow ties are last to be done.

I hand-dip everything, since we don't have a commercial glazer. You will see me dipping donuts when you come in, as I keep the shelves full. When we run out, we're done for the day. Making fresh donuts in the afternoon just doesn't work, as most of you like them in the morning or midday. We can't afford to throw away our leftovers, and Papa refuses to sell old donuts!

So some in, visit, and enjoy the aroma of our little shop. Oh, and have a donut or two!

After a slow Wednesday, we've had a great Thursday! We make 10 dozen donuts every day (except Sunday), and today we're down to just a dozen at eleven o'clock! This is exciting and soooo gratifying, since this is the first job Papa has truly enjoyed in the 34 years we've been married. Just goes to show you---do what you love, and forget about all the other stuff.
