🌄 A pretty neat Friday at Mt. Top Convenience…
We had a familiar visitor stop in today — Joe Manchin!
Joe has been in our store several times over the years, but today was the first time we actually had the chance to meet him and stand around and talk with him for a while.
He was on his way to his place in Canaan Valley and took five or ten minutes to visit with us. We talked about West Virginia, our area and eventually the conversation turned to something near and dear to us… pepperoni rolls. ❤️
He talked about the history of the pepperoni roll and its connection to West Virginia’s coal miners — how miners needed something simple and portable that they could take underground with them for a long day of work.
It’s one of those things we sometimes take for granted because pepperoni rolls are such a normal part of life here.
But when you stop and think about it, the pepperoni roll really is a little piece of West Virginia history.
We enjoyed the conversation and were glad we finally got the chance to meet and talk with Joe. Thanks for stopping in!
