Container gardening goes so much better when the pot actually matches the plant instead of trying to squeeze everything into whatever pot is empty 🪴
🌿 Smaller pots are great for herbs and leafy crops like basil, cilantro, thyme, lettuce, and spinach
🍓 Medium pots usually work well for things like peppers, strawberries, kale, and cherry tomatoes
🍅 Bigger crops like full-size tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and beans need more root room than many people expect
🌽 The larger the plant gets, the more important pot size becomes for watering, feeding, and overall health
💧 I’ve found small pots dry out fast, so they often need more checking in warm weather
🪴 When in doubt, I usually go a little bigger rather than too small, because it makes growing much easier
A lot of container problems really come down to roots running out of space.
