Last week was one for the books! I had a full schedule from sunrise to sunset every day. We were everywhere you could imagine, but I was still doing what I love most—investing in the next generation of culinary professionals.

A few weeks ago, while I was administering the culinary exams at Liberty-Eylau High School, a storm rolled through and knocked the power out, forcing us to postpone the cooking skills portion of the exam. Most students would have been disappointed and moved on for the summer, but not these two.

They wanted it so badly that they came back after school was already out for summer break to complete their cooking skills assessment last week. That level of dedication, commitment, and determination is exactly what it takes to succeed in this industry.

I am extremely proud of both of these young culinary students and the effort they put forth. A special hats off to Chef Alicia Mershell Prater for the outstanding job she has done preparing and mentoring them. Their hard work and passion were on full display, and it was an honor to be a small part of their journey.

Keep cooking, keep learning, and keep chasing your goals. The future looks bright! 👨‍🍳🔥👏
