Yesterday was an awful day. I grew up in Tega Cay and graduated from FMHS in 1983 and have lived in Fort Mill most of my life since. I started delivering pizzas in 1984 when I was going to Winthrop, and I've been in the pizza delivery business ever since. A friend of mine from those days started Toppers Pizza in a small town in Wisconsin in 1991, and I opened my first one in 1997 in Charlotte. I was excited to open a Toppers Pizza in Tega Cay 4 years ago. This restaurant has been run extremely well the entire time. The GM and team have won many awards. We have donated over $10,000 to local schools, police and fire departments, and other local organizations. The team has mostly consisted of incredible high school students that have absolutely kicked ass! These kids and their parents should be very proud. The last 2 years have been the 2 most challenging years we've ever seen in the restaurant business. Let's just say that is extremely expensive to run a business compared to 5 years ago, especially in the spot that we were in. Support local businesses!! The Fort Mill location will be delivering to some of the Baxter neighborhood. Fort Mill, South Blvd, and UNCC will honor any and all gift certificates. We are also going to reward those customers that still have Rewards on their account. I would like to ask that you be careful what you say on social media, not just about Toppers, but any restaurant that closes. It is not easy and there is no playbook. Can you get a bad pizza once a while? Absolutely, from anywhere. Pizzas are made 100% from scratch. We're proud that we made great pizzas.
