Some days don’t end when the music stops. They follow you home. They make you look at the people you love a little longer. They remind you how extraordinary it is to find someone you want beside you for all the ordinary days ahead.

Keyley and Jordan’s wedding was one of those days.

The beauty was everywhere, in the details so thoughtfully chosen, in the people gathered around them, and most of all in how completely themselves they were. Nothing about it felt like a performance. It felt like love, honest and open, filling every corner of the room. Standing there, we couldn’t help but think about what a wedding promise holds. Not only this beautiful day, but the mornings they haven’t lived yet. The laughter waiting for them. The hard seasons they’ll face together. The countless small moments when one will reach for the other and find them still there.

Keyley and Jordan, thank you for allowing The Rustic Roast Café to be part of your wedding. It was an honor to witness the beginning of this chapter, and we hope you always remember how deeply loved you were in that room. We love you! You both are remarkable individuals!!!

Now over 86,000 people saw our Dunkin’ post this week about our little coffee shop in Taylorsville!!!! IM BLOWN AWAY!

I honestly thought I was just speaking to our neighbors. Instead, thousands of people joined a conversation about what happens when a big chain comes to a small town.

So here’s what I hope comes out of it, visit the local places you keep saying you love. Bring a friend. Tell somebody about the shop where they remember your order. Leave a review for the business that made your day a little better.

That support is what keeps a small business going long after a post stops circulating. To everyone who shared our story or walked through our door this week. thank you. The Rustic Roast is still right here and will always be in downtown Taylorsville, and we’d love to make you a coffee and add some light to your day!

Okay… we’ve gotten A LOT of questions today about Dunkin’ coming to Taylorsville.

“Are y’all worried?”
“What are you going to do?”
“Is this going to hurt Rustic Roast?”

So I figured I’d just answer it. Of course, when you own a small business and hear that a huge national coffee chain is opening on the other side of town, you think about it. I’d be lying if I said the thought hadn’t crossed my mind and yes of course it worries us! And to be honest, we are not the only small business that it’s going to affect.

But then I remembered what The Rustic Roast actually is. We were never built to be the biggest coffee shop.

We were built to be YOUR local coffee shop.

The place where we know your order. Where you recognize the people behind the counter. Where we create ridiculous new drinks just because we think y’all will love them!! Where we host events, support our community, celebrate with you, and hopefully make Main Street feel a little more like home. When you spend money here, it doesn’t go to a corporation.

It helps pay our employees.
It supports local families.
It keeps a small business on Main Street.
And it allows us to keep pouring back into the same community that has poured so much into us.

There IS room for Taylorsville to grow, and we want to see our town grow. But I’ll also be completely transparent, I hope that growth doesn’t only mean more big chains and corporations. I hope it means more locally owned businesses. More families taking chances on their dreams. More people investing in downtown. More places that are uniquely Taylorsville instead of places you can find in every town across America.

And more than anything, I hope as our town grows, our community continues to see the value in choosing local when they can. Because small businesses simply cannot exist without the people who choose to walk through their doors. Dunkin’ coming to town doesn’t change who we are. We’ll be right here on Main Street doing what we do. And maybe working just a little harder to remind y’all why you fell in love with your local coffee shop in the first place.

Thank you to EVERYONE who reached out today. The fact that so many of you were concerned about us honestly says more than we ever could.

We love this little town, and we’re incredibly thankful that this little town continues to choose us!
