The eighth annual Rocktoberfest featuring the Monster Splash Seaplane Fly-In returns to downtown Tavares on Saturday, Oct. 17, with seaplane competitions, live rock music and waterfront activities. The free, all-ages event runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby St., with performances by Cowboy Mouth, the Dave Matthews Tribute Band, Matchbox Down and Rebel Soul.
The Monster Splash Seaplane Fly-In celebrates Tavaresโ connection to seaplane aviation, giving spectators a chance to see amphibious aircraft in action. Beginning at 11 a.m., pilots will compete in flying challenges on Lake Dora, including the crowd-favorite Pumpkin Drop competition. Multiple heats will be held, with an awards ceremony immediately after the contests. From 1 to 3 p.m., visitors can meet participating pilots, see their aircraft up close, take photos and learn more about seaplane aviation.
Food and merchandise vendors will open at 11 a.m. Visitors can also take a stroll through downtown Tavares to discover what local shops, restaurants and businesses have to offer.
Live rock music will keep the waterfront rocking from noon to 10 p.m., featuring the following bands:
