One thing I love about our front-of-the-house team is they are constantly playing with ingredients and coming up with some amazing cocktails
..and if you're lucky enough to be sitting at the bar while they're experimenting, then you've probably been given a taste and asked what you think
This Week's Drink Special is a creation from Mee Yeong the Kindhearted:
Mee's Strawberry Spritzer -- bourbon, strawberry, lemon, honey, topped with prosecco
This Week's Food Special ...a creation from Malaty:
Salmon Wellington -- 6oz salmon filet, creamy spinach & parmesan cheese in a puff pastry, with hollandaise sauce. served with red & yellow baby roasted potatoes
..also, since I get asked a lot, an update on Malaty's health...
As many know, Malaty was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer in 2019
It has been an up-and-down rollercoaster for her. But she is incredibly strong and has fought with everything she has, along with the amazing staff at Tacoma General and her oncologist Dr. Blair Irwin, for whom I am forever thankful. Dr. Irwin has been a miracle worker for Malaty, thanks to her complete dedication & hardwork
We had to sell our first bar in 2023 because Malaty's last treatment option stopped working. Dr. Irwin did some testing, and after realizing Malaty's cancer had mutated, was able to go back to a previous cancer treatment that had originally stopped working
Malaty had been on that treatment for almost 3 years, by far the longest a treatment had worked, but it recently stopped working. Things looked very bleak. Dr. Irwin prescribed Malaty a new experimental-trial treatment. At first, it didn't seem to be working, but her last tumor markers have dropped drastically and have shown signs the treatment is working ...although the side effects are brutal on Malaty
She is the strongest person I know, and she continues to fight. She is extremely grateful for the bar and all that it brings to her life. She is grateful for Michelle & Bill, our amazing staff, and most of all the support she has gotten from all of you
