🍕 THE CLOVERLEAF: A SLICE OF TACOMA HISTORY — PART 6
Changes to keep up…..✔️
The restaurant, no longer a tavern, welcomed children, began catering and provided banquets for up to 50 guests.
2004 was when Tacoma was going non-smoking, what a change! 🚭
The smoke filled rooms that had historically hosted more men than women, were now fresh, smoke free and filled with women and families.🎈
A new menu was created that added more than just pizza, can you believe some do not like pizza, especially thin crust?
So we added sandwiches, burgers and salads which have been a great hit!

❤️ THE CLOVERLEAF: A SLICE OF TACOMA HISTORY — PART 5
After owning the tavern for 33 years it was time to retire.
Lennard sold the tavern to his son Kris and daughter-in-law Debbie, January 1, 2004.
The name was changed to The Cloverleaf as the location was no longer a tavern for 21 and over only.
The roof was raised, offices and storage were added upstairs, the backroom got a full make over and children were welcomed!
In 2007 the restaurant was owned solely by Debbie who is the current General Manger and owner.
A new chapter in Cloverleaf history had begun. ❤️

🍕 THE CLOVERLEAF: A SLICE OF TACOMA HISTORY — PART 4
Next phase…..
Lennard decided to spread that delicious pizza around.🍺🍕
In 1973, The Cloverleaf Tavern in Bremerton opened. Other locations followed, The Strap in Spanaway, the Little Leaf in Fife, the Hy-iu-hee-hee in Gig Harbor, and lastly Lennard K’s Allen Tavern.🍕
The businesses thrived for some time, but expansion went too quickly for long term success. All locations were sold with the original Cloverleaf Tavern remaining the only location with the original pizza.
Then in the 80’s Highway 16 was rerouted and 6th Ave was no longer the main thoroughfare.🚗

Lennard made the tavern the place to hang.
Linda Evans, star of Dallas, was a regular. A sports broadcast was done weekly from the corner booth. The mini pizza and salad lunch special were introduced. The huge size pizza was added and so were plates! Sports teams were sponsored and coaches and referees frequented. 🍕🍺
