"We had us a banana split on our way home from freshman orientation! You could put any of their ice-cream flavors on the split. We had peach and cherry and banana pudding on ours. It was delicious!!"

Forty-plus Hershey's flavors in the case, and the split takes whichever ones you want. What would yours be?

A guy who lives three and a half hours from Sylva drove over anyway, and this is what he wrote when he got home.

"This place has surpassed all others as my favorite ice cream shop of all time. I'm very glad I live 3.5 hours away. I'm sure I would gain weight if I lived too close! They hand make waffle cones for you as you wait. The cone shell comes in 3 different flavors (vanilla, chocolate or cinnamon) and it's warm and crispy when you get it."

Jason, that cone iron on Asheville Highway hasn't slowed down since. Come back anytime.

Hershey's Orange Sherbet is the sleeper pick of August. Tara scooped one around eleven and the whole counter smelled like a creamsicle. It's bright and cold and it doesn't quit halfway through. Waynesville has been sitting in the high 80s all week. That one earns its spot.
