National Cream Tea Day lands on the last Friday in June. In honor of the day, SCONE will offer only Cream Teas Saturday, June 27th, from 12:30-4:00, following the town Fun Days parade. What is Cream Tea? Cream tea is a lovely pot of tea with scones. Of course, you may receive something "extra" as always 🙂 Reservations are recommended but not required for this day only.

The tea room was a parsonage for about 93 years and I am the third owner. The Lutheran Church bought the house in 1930 when the original owners who built the home lost it during the Depression. I have some of the old dishes from the church. For those of you who have been to the tea room this month, you will have noticed them set at the tables. There are two different styles. One is trimmed in all green and the other is trimmed in green with gold lettering. I am assuming the all green ones are older because they are more faded and less smooth (made by TCCP Aladdin Co. USA) while the gold ones (Harkerware USA, oven proof, dishwasher proof) were purchased later since they appear newer. I find it so interesting to learn about the history of the china being used. Please comment if anyone knows when either of the dinnerware sets were first purchased.
