Another 9am sold out day…. I’m really starting to think I need to double my recipes and maybe buy another freezer 😂

I was already feeling so grateful for this business this week and then you guys show up in droves through pre-orders and at the market. My heart is going to explode.

Update at 5:30am on Saturday Morning- pre-orders are now closed as we start packing up to head to the market.

Summerville Farmers Market is back tomorrow from 8am-1pm. It will be cooler weather so be prepared with a sweatshirt, maybe an umbrella in case of rain, but also bring a t-shirt for when it warms up. In other words bring a suitcase full of possibilities!

Here is another menu item for this weekend at the Summerville Farmers Market and this will also be put on the shelf of Mixson Kitchen tomorrow.

Cheddar Stuffed Turkey Meatloaf with Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Not only will there be cheddar cheese incorporated into our meatloaf but we also add some shredded sweet potato. These two additions keep this meatloaf from getting dry and it adds a small element of sweetness.

Let’s start taking about what’s on the menu this week at Mixson Kitchen AND at the Summerville Farmers Market.

Chicken Bog!

It is chicken, rice and andouille sausage. Seems simple, right? This dish actually takes about 12 hours to make from start to finish. You have to cook the whole chicken, shred the chicken off the bone, boil the bones overnight with its friends (celery, onions, garlic, herbs) to create a flavorful stock, and then cook the rice in that broth.

This is a true southern gem. They even have a “Bog Off Festival” in Loris, SC which just happens to be this coming Saturday.

Update on Friday at 2pm- the market is cancelled

This weekend is looking a little wet so we decided to stop production, cancel the Summerville Farmers Market and take a little trip to Columbia today to go to the SC Museum and the SC State Farmers Market.

The market itself is not canceled at this time so if you want to go visit our friends who are daring enough to fight the rain, please go visit them. Check the Summerville Farmers Market page for update.

If you need anything from me between now and next Saturday you can find my food at Mixson Kitchen. I’ll get over there tomorrow for an update of what’s in the freezer.
