❗️WARNING TO ALL LOCAL BUSINESSES❗️
Edited after receiving clarification from employees in shop and owners*
Earlier today, we received a call warning us that an entergy employee was on location waiting to turn off our power due to unpaid bills. We knew that this was not true as we are always on time with our payment, so he gave us a second number to call. The person on the phone told us that they had no evidence of payment and our power would be shut off immediately if we did not make the payment. This situation was extremely stressful. We couldn’t imagine our power being shut off on one of our busiest days, not to mention the thousands of dollars in product that would be lost! Due to the stress of the situation, we rashly made the decision to make the payment only to later find out that these people were scammers.
We are sharing this with the community in hopes that no one else will have to go through this.
While we have been very fortunate to have a lot of business, we are still a young business whose profit is largely put directly back into running our business and paying off business loans. This is a huge set back, but we know we’ll be okay. What isn’t okay is people like this who put people in situations that make them feel helpless and panicked and then take advantage of them with no regard for the people they may be hurting. We will be filing a police report.
If anything good can come out of this situation, it is that you can learn from our mistake! Entergy will never physically come to your place of business to turn off your power or give you a an alternate number to call. Be on the look out, and if someone comes to your place of business to do this to you report them immediately!
